don't know... I usualy fix my walkman by myself, it doesn't seem to be a hard work (soldering the head phone jack, check the autoreverse... )

I'm from china, and almost my collections are from these two websites.
yahoo action is a good place for collection your expected machines but recently the prices are more expensive. Almost what I want are can be found finally on this site. SONY DD series or AIWA J/P/U/G series are very common.
Most of the walkmans for selling on taobao are from yahoo auction or ebay, most sellers buy machines and then repair and then sell with a much higher price but indeed those walkmans have better conditions.

No response from the seller at this point.
And since today he has deleted the listing.
    Should I be worried ?

    I received the walkman !!!
    Looks Beautiful !!! (pictures http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/aiwa-hs-g09.1761/ )

    About the sound...
At first there was only static coming from the old cassette (which I had laying around for ages :breakdance:)
But when I turned it around, at first a few seconds static and then came the song ( cassette was at the beginning/end, :applause )
When I turn the volume wheel, there's crackling and sometimes only sound coming from left or right,
except at a specific volume level, then it's fine, also I get more static, the louder I set the volume.
At 3 or 4, there's no static at all.

    Then there's the autoreverse.
When I play the tape at the end , it's suppose to play the other side, right ?
There's a slider that you can move in 2 positions, I've tried them both.
I figured out that the right position, plays the sound backwards, weird LOL.
the left position woud be to autoreverse the cassette then ?
I've tried the left position again and suddenly the tape stops turning
and when I opened up the player, the tape was stuck and a bit garbled around something inside.
So I gently pulled on the tape to get it out.

How can I overcome these problems ?

Probably I'm going to have to open it up.

For the crackling, it probably some dust that I have to get rid of.

The autoreverse ? Maybe the belt not in the right position or something ?

Does someone have a service/owners manual for the Aiwa HS-G09 ?

    Can anyone help me ?

    Thanks in advance.[/QUOTE]

I looked at the manual you provided,
but I don't see anything related to the autoreverse mechanism.
Only some info about disassembly and some exploded views.

If someone here has the Aiwa HS-G09 with working autoreverse,
maybe you can post a picture of the inside, so I can compare your belt placement with mine.

Also on the 2nd reverse mode it plays the sound backwards, is it supposed to do that or what is the 2nd reverse mode for ?

    Thanks in advance.

I've just unscrewed the back and I've tried to get it off. It comes a bit off, but I'm afraid that if I pull harder I might break something.
    So I've closed it again.

I did notice on the inside that the tape head isn't horizontal. It's not aligned properly. Can this also be a reason of the auto reverse eating the tape ?

Maybe the tape eating is also caused by the pinch rollers and the metal pin with the brown substance in the picture that probably need cleaning ?

Here's a picture where you can see the tape head alignment, pinch roller and metal pin with brown substance on it.

    My walkman's autoreverse is fixed,
but suddenly I seem to have a belt issue and also one side plays like chipmunks.
So I've ordered a new belt from Ebay.
Hopefully this belt will fix it,
but I'm not sure it will.

In the meantime I'm yet again searching for another Aiwa walkman, one that works !!!! Pffff
An Aiwa from the mid 80's preferably.
    (HS-P07, P7, F07, F7, G08, H08, G09, J09, etc... )

These are worth spending the time to fix. They aren't easy but some are just too rare to pass.

I've found a few over the years but sadly the fixed ones tend to go for comedy money.

Oi. Ontem recebi a encomenda e é AIWA HS-P07 Red. Obrigado
