Yep crazy prices. Had a customer buy an older model I think around 10 years old for around 2K but still not worth it. A set of ink will set you back around 2k also.
So couldn't help myself when I was at the hobby shop picking up the aluminium sheets for the KT AS-10. A nice little turntable
All done with the controls panel aluminium overlay!! I had to cut and drill the holes by hand then carefully file the holes to size. Sanded lightly with 1200 grit sandpaper and polished with some Autosol Metal Polish. Added a clear coat to protect it from scratches and also to help prevent the lettering from chipping away.
One of my favourite units lovely (but if I would buy one I must have it original and not reprinted even though) I think it’s beautifully done.
I agree on it being original but was in bad cosmetic condition especially the front. Took the opportunity to revive it as close to original as possible.
This guy etches his panels using a laser printer and then an acid bath, this might work although he's building a component system with much thicker material and you would have a relief on the surface. http://audio.toddkumpf.com/ Go to the faceplate page... It was either here or AudioKarma where they were talking about a company that can print on metal, just send your metal and design and they do the rest, it seemed pretty inexpensive, the hard part was making the design. I can try to find the company if anyone is interested but they are US based. Nice work by the way! I just pulled my little AS10 out of storage, it needs a little work as it was definitely loved. Mine says "Dolby System" instead of "Walky"

Great job ... I am really fascinated. I was wondering if you might even own a service manual. I'll have such a sweetheart soon and I'll have to fix it a bit.
