Look at how damned expensive the M-90 was! More than the FH-7! Wow!

I would have liked to take one of Banarama with me.
The trouble was Andrew Ridgeley got their first.

p.s I like the smallest and lightest portable video Annie Lennox is demonstrating.
It is actually much smaller (and no doubt expensive) than the Mitsubishi HS700 I bought.

Also the fact that Shirley from Wham doesn't think she can afford an Auto Reverse Walkman.

I have the very deck that Annie Lennox is carrying! It is a Sony SL-F1. Betamax format! Very advanced machine for it's day!
PS. I'm sure Shirley could have stretched to auto reverse!! Bananarama were hot!!

VCR's can be tricky b@&&ers! The F1 has (Like it's bigger brother the SL-C9) a fantastic direct drive tape transport, quite the best I have seen in any domestic machine! But they are getting on for 30+ years old and like most things can be troublesome!

A few weeks ago someone was saying they wouldn't pay £1000 for an M90.
The Smash Hits pages don't show a date but as Wham! includes Dee C Lee I would think 1982.
    From various sources 1982 UK Average wage = £9369. 2016 Average wage = £27000
So in todays prices an M90 was the equivalent of almost £1000.

Regarding the Sony F1 video recorder, the electronics in the matching PCM-F1 Digital audio recorder became the basis of the first prototype CD Players.

But quite a reasonable investment. I was reading an article on Classic Cars which said that the ones that have appreciated the most were the ones that were top of the range (like Lamborghini) when they were new. I think the same applies here. People want an M90 because it was the top of the range but way out of their price range when they were teenagers so they ended up with a £50 Toshiba.

I hope anyone who spent £1248 on the Sony Video Camera got good use out of it, as one of the few that sold on Ebay recently sold for £10.50.

Of course everything but the optics on the £120 Panasonic Camcorder I bought recently is probably better than that Sony. The Panasonic is HD for a start, and is probably smaller and lighter than the Sony's Viewfinder.

Thanks for that. I was about buy a DVD with a few of these on but this seems to be better and free.
Just had a quick look at one (Dec 1984) in random and found adverts for the Sony Tape Rock Review (which I still have) and the Sony WM22 at the bargain price of £29.95. Of course the main readership of Smash Hits would be schoolgirls so it is not surprising that they were advertising their cheapest (to date) Walkman in it. Sony WM22.jpg
