It was crushed by Peter's dad...what a waste of a mint condition TPS-L2. Saddest part of the film for me
I have been trying to Google how many Ford Anglias they destroyed to make the Harry Potter Flying Car sequence. Depending on where you look it was between 7 and 14. There are only about 2000 left on the road so lets hope they don't decide to do a remake.
I fell asleep during the latest Star Wars and my son and daughter-in-law did not kick me when it finally ended, just waited for me by the car... Guardians ... At least I did not snooze... Watching the Walkman tribulations. Thanks to your tip I will suffer thru another 2hrs of bad acting and pseudo-sci-fi... Thanks A Lot!!! Or just spoil me and tell the story,... Please?!...
SPOILERS Recently saw the film! Looks like they used an empty TPS-L2 shell with all the screws removed, and perhaps pre-cracked the plastic trim for Kurt Russell to squish. The replacement Zune is a great touch, as Peter Quill is still stuck with an obsolete and obscure player, although I feel like few in the audience even knew what a Zune was. I guess this is the last time the TPS-L2's value will spike for quite a while.
Ive just reached out to the VFX supervisor (who I did Avengers II with) and asked him if the shot was augmented by VFX, if it was an original that was destroyed or a proxy made by props for that shot. I have not seen the film myself. Im still very biased to the first one and not had time to go see. I'll wait for the blu ray I'll let you all know when I hear back
Chris's response... "it was a practical specially made practical prop which was crushed; we slightlyenhanced it by adding some CG glass in the tape window, which we then cracked. " So you can all rest easy that nothing of "value" was destroyed.
Thanks doublecee for reaching out to the supervisor! This is a shot that will be fun to frame through when the Blu-Ray comes out. In looking to build a "Vol. 2" clone of my own, I've noticed they went with a Cding 90 this film vs the 54 in the first film, as seen by the color of the hub pins.
I have not seen the film, I was not that impressed with the first one hence I’ll save this one for a rainy day when I have nothing better to do.
