My latest catch is the Fisher SC-300K Boombox notorious for having a built in keyboard. There might only be three models of these keyboard hybrid boomboxes, this one, a Sanyo Model and a Casio Model, all highly collectible due to the visual coolness and the added attraction of a fun keyboard. In my thrifting journeys over the years I've been attracted to small keyboards and I have a nice little collection of Casios and Yamahas I've picked up. Nothing too spectacular but they are a riot to play with and I have a nice Peavey Keyboard Amp to run them through to really have fun, especially the ones with the tiny drum pads on them. Unfortunately it just showed up today, the packing was great except it looks the eject button was pushed and the door is out of alignment. I don't want to push it too much, I can move it a little but is there a way to get it back on track or should I bust it open? The geared side seems in the track but the other side is not. I can't tell if the belts are good or not and I hate to bust the seal if it works already. If nobody knows, that's ok, it's kind of a rare box but this thing is sooo nice and clean I don't want to break anything if I don't have to. Thanks for looking!
It looks like the keyboard is a Casio! It must be a modified PT-30, this one has a connector on the bottom so you can use the box's speakers. The Fisher does not have a speaker instead it has the nice black faceplate. Pretty cool but I think I've read the box is made by Sanyo. Sanyo seemed to make a lot of products and parts that ended up with other manufacturers so they probably didn't care who made the keyboard. http://weltenschule.de/TableHooters/Casio_PT-30.html Here's some reviews, it looks like it is rated pretty good as a fun little keyboard. https://en.audiofanzine.com/keyboard-arranger/casio/PT30/user_reviews/ generror calls it one of "the greatest home keyboards ever" https://generror.wordpress.com/2010/07/05/history-of-casio-keyboards-1/ Personally I think the Fisher is a better looking unit with the black faceplate but I'd keep both.
What a Beast, I love it!!! How does it work: you play the keyboard over the tune coming off cassette?
Let's just say I think I'm going in, while it looks nearly brand new shipping might have jostled the inside. What you can't see is how wide this is, really wide, just a hair under 2'. There used to be an old thread on here with the wider boxes, this has to be one of them.
You forgot the Sharp 990. http://www.retrothing.com/2008/09/sharp-boom-box.html Casio actually did quite a few. However, the CK500 was insanely priced I went through that catalogue and worked out you could have bought the equivalent spec keyboard and boombox and a nice personal stereo and still had change from £295. I just read about your other Casios in the Synths thread. http://www.stereo2go.com/forums/threads/do-you-have-any-synths.1419/ The CZ101 is a sought after classic
