I was browsing through eBay when I suddenly found a guy that was selling hundreds -literally- of prerecorded cassettes for good prices. My eyes quickly opened. He was offering medium-sized boxes with 44 randomly picked cassettes for good prices. I liked the idea of those boxes and I'd like to order one or two, but not randomly chosen, so I contacted him. I asked him to send me photos of his whole collection so I can make a list, and he agreed. He said he can do for 1$/tape and I found it a good deal. Read more...
Thats a great idea, i nice mixed box of tapes is a great buy. I did think we should have a cassettes for sale section as I sell quite a lot of cassettes on Ebay especially when i buy a job lot, pick out what i want and sell the rest. I have about 50 to list on Ebay now, I might make a post! Gratz on a great score tho. very nice.
Yeah, a mixed box ot cassettes is very nice. If you want to list your tapes, you can just post a new thread in the 2nd hand forum...
I think a mix tape exchange would be fun, I have done it with other members in the past. They send a mixed tape of the music they like and I send them a mix tape of music I like, so you never know what you will get
Yes it’s fun and a pleasant surprise when you get the tape, I usually use TDK AR or TDK SA for the exchange.
I wish cassettes were still available in shops, LPs have come back (in HMV) albeit on cheesy labels rather than the original ones though they still found an excuse to put a high price on them, I did have 300 cassettes but I've cut them down to 150 due to not having the storage space and those large cassette cases have vanished too, ones that hold 60 but I put 72 in them by taking out the plastic racking.
Even the Charity shops, which sell CDs and Vinyl (which in this location is usually James Last or Val Doonigan) don't seem to stock them any longer. You do occasionally find new sealed blank cassettes there though.
Yeah your right it is hard to find cassettes stocked now, I do have one second hand shop near me that sells themn but i have kind of bought the best ones now...
Album cassettes in shops are like chickens' teeth, there was the RSPCA in Bury St Edmunds but I think they've stopped having them now, Heart Foundation usually have loads of CDs and some vinyl as do other charity shops, there's a second hand music stall on the market but that only sells CDs and vinyl, what's the likelihood of the musicassette (album) coming back?, probably none.
