So I cleaned up the Aiwa yesterday and put it next to the SANYO c9 , which one has better sound ? Aiwa no question about it, what surprised me the most is that it's just one simple speaker 4" w/out tweeter . The c9 is at least 6" w/tweeter , tho the c9 sounds great, the Aiwa has that quality sound, the kind that is so smooth it doesn't hurt your ears with great highs , may be Radio Raheem can explain this phenomenon a bit more, as he had plenty of experience with speakers.
Im not suprised the aiwa is better patron, to be honest i had the c9 and was very disapointed with it, it was loud but hardly any warmth to it, im sure the aiwa is built much better and some 4"" drivers can out peform much bigger ones, im really suprised the aiwa dosen't have any tweeters though quite shocked actually, anyway thanks for the size comparo lad, again i thought the aiwa was much bigger than it actually is, cheers hugo, hate saying this but the only decent sanyo iv heard was the big ben the 9998 aint bad eather but that's just my opinion
Thanks for sharing - both stereos look great and I love such comparo photos - only they give your proportions you may miss on pics of a box alone.
SPEAKERS : I noticed these speakers don't have the usual filter attached to the speaker wires like most radios.
I know right!! It looks bigger in the wooden box but by it self is way smaller, and no handle. Stay tuned guys I have a pic that will blow your mind .
Ok, this thing has 2 batts in there, for at least 30 years !!! Is this safe ?? Can these blow up any minute ?? Please advice.
I don't have I don't think you have to worry about those batteries they're very high quality and they're sealed they probably need to be replaced though yuasha has been a quality name in motorcycle batteries for a long time.
Thank you jvc floyd, for the size of the speakers the sound on this unit is very impressive , can't wait to put new belts on it to try out the cassette player.
I had so much fun puting it back together, so weird that they used FULL length power cables to power each unit from the power supply, insted of using shorter cables .
The reason for the full length power cables is so that you can spread the units apart just like you have in the picture. that setup is truly one awesome and rare piece of equipment.
Companies had to watch how long they made these audio cables because if the cables are too long it basically introduces noise into the system so I guess they figured if you want to spread them apart you just use longer cables. I'm not really sure how this thing is put together being that I've never seen one so I'm just guessing.
I love those Aiwa mini compo systems - Am looking for a decent one, they do come up sometimes!! Also I love the C9 & want one too Both of these do it for me The Aiwa is indeed a real hi-fi amp & the intricate & complicated mechanics of the cassette deck produce a very nice sound!
Honestly I think you can buy some of those 12 volt extension cables it's just a matter of looking or maybe even just get the ends and make some custom cords.
Great work Hugo, im in the process of buying a kenwood dc 20 but have just found out it's not portable with out the case, least this aiwa is complete lad, i WILL find the case lad
Thanks guys, before this Aiwa I had a lot of respect for the C9, but now it took 2nd place, Radio Raheem, Tony posted some pics of a kenwood dc20 , it looks great of course.
