Hi All, New to the forum. I’ve got a Sony WM-10 in need of a new belt. (Super melted!) What is the best source for belts for that model? And, I’d like to continue to fix up others as I find them. What’s the most effective way to buy a few belts at a time? They seem expensive one at a time on eBay. I’d like to have a back stock. Any info you guys have would be helpful as I start up my new Walkman hobby. Thanks!
Hello smithknows, I've never needed a belt until last week, I've got a huge supply but some of the sizes are running out. I haven't installed any of these company's belts. Our site sponsor is https://fixyouraudio.com/ He seems to have a really good reputation with lot of belts and wheels. I've recently found MarVac, they seem to have everything electronic https://marvac.com/ They use PBR Belts which have been around for years, I think the VCR and tape deck repair guys used them a lot. and I just ordered from https://www.turntableneedles.com/Rubber_Drive_Belts-Tape_Decks_Turntables I don't know the quality, if the belts are a little off they can affect sound and I hate doing a job twice, these guys have been around for a long time and other members have used them. The most complaints seem to be the assortment packs on Ebay for a few dollars but I've never used them.
When I bought a kit for a Panasonic from Fixyouraudio, and it turned out to be wrong, most likely due to Panasonic changing the deign of the player, FixYouraudio, very quickly sent me the correct belts free of charge. You can't complain about service like that. Their only downside is that they only do thin "Walkman" type belts. In contrast, the problem with the bargain packs of belts you get on Ebay is that they are only of use for home stereo and boomboxes, being too thick for most personal stereos made after the early 1980s.
