Hi all! Another California guy here. I've always loved and collected audio gear, but have recently gotten in to the small portable world. I hope to learn a bunch of stuff here, and am looking forward to bringing a couple of my units back to life. I fondly remember my childhood spent with a walkman always in hand. I am always on the lookout for new and unique stuff. Glad to be here!
I'm gonna start uploading some pics of my collection, but thought I'd start with my very favorite piece. Pristine and complete, my AIWA HS-JX2000. It's my only gold portable, but I love the way it looks.
Holy Moses, sacguy231, that's one CLEAN outfit. Haven't seen anything like it. Does it work and does it sound as good as it looks?
Thx guys! It's perfect in box, even has the original unused gumstick and AAA batteries in plastic. It sadly has very little volume, so I'm thinking capacitors are bad. But, it's worth fixing for sure. I have all the docs and welcome letters from AIWA. One cool feature is the Gold Club card that looks like a credit card that's in the leather case, not sure the story behind that membership or the Gold Club in general.
I like the way it is all presented in what looks to be a velvet finish case. Certainly a lot more up market than the Aiwas of the noughties that came in small cardboard boxes or the Sonys that came in blister packs like something from Poundland.
I have seen this one in the Sony site but I have never seen one which is owned by anyone and especially in such fantastic condition with all the accessories i am very envious
Hey Sacguy231 your AIWA HS-JX2000 is very unique. The only person that i know has this unit and JX3000 both in pristine condition is Hugo. Please place more picture of your collection. What else you got??? any Nagra sn?
