First and foremost, hello! Yes, I am currently residing in Vancouver but my origin is the distant land of Indonesia. I've been working with cassettes for quite a long while now. Back in the late 2000s, I, as a kid, used to fiddle around a Kenwood deck, whose model number I forgot, and loved the hell out of it--until I decided to part ways due to my new addiction to computers and digital media technology. Also gone is my only metal tape. Yeah I was a dumb kid back then. How regretful I am now. Fast forward to late 2016, I came back to cassettes and got my Sony WM-SXF30 a few months later. Now I'm looking for a decent deck to play with, and I hope you guys can help me in finding one. I have a student budget though, ah well...
Welcome! I'm also on a student budget...well starting from September anyway. Walkman Archive recommended the Sony TC-K570 deck a few months ago so I bought one for just under £40 + free delivery (well actually I went to collect in person from London and then had to carry it back via the London Underground much to the amusement of other passengers). It's probably a low-mid range model but the sound quality is excellent, it's also very easy to use.
Nice to see you join up. I live in Squamish, just a 50 minute drive north of downtown Vancouver. I will give some thought of a model of deck which would be in your budget, which I assume is under $100. There are plenty of decks that pop up in Salvation Army thrift stores that still have some life left in them. Nando.
Saw one myself and might be getting it. 25 bucks shouldnt be that much to sacrifice. It has issues with fast rewind though. I might take that into consideration, cheers!
