Hi I am Philip from the Netherlands , but just cal me Pip.

Love trying to fix some old walkman (beginner, much to learn) and yes already have two working; a dd11 sound problem new capacitors (first time SMD with special thanks to all writing there expertise here) and a dd33 center gear replacement (special thanks to mihokm for making the sony dd step by step repair guide and the great ebay service )

My new project is a DC2 (Think I made some soldering mistakes putting it back together, no sound and power is not turning off with batteries inserted, it keeps spinning)

It was not a soldering problem.
Connection switch was blocked and head was not inserting the tape due to some bad plastic below the center gear (luckily I had a spare part)

Now power is fixed, but need to open it again play and forward is blocked somehow, it turns a little and then stopes (rewind works)
I can hear a sound in my headphones again (no music due to the play block)

First back to reading the beginners manual again

With no cassette inserted all work.
    With cassette inserted;
    • play OK,
    • forward OK,
    • rewind blocks after two seconds
    • and stil no music.

    Next step
    • check capacitors
    • search forum (rewind problem)

Player brought to a professional, they have better equipment.
    • Repair music problem
    • allround check
    • Update old components

    Next project D3:

    • New center gear
    • Repair rewind gear (I had to cut the gear with a sharp knife and glued it to a spare dd33 gear)
    • place new belt (old one is melted)
    • repair phones (had to replace it)
And thanks to this forum, all up and running with no click.

DC2 is repaired and tested: PCB connection (manual item 502) was broken.
    Capacitors tested

    Al works.
