As I commented in a different thread there were three whole pages of MiniDisc Hifis, players and recorders in the 2002 Argos catalogue so maybe they are correct, especially is it was per household.
It's too bad he doesn't have some better photos, these products were ingrained in society and everyone knew what they were. I'm surprised by the minidisc figures as well. I've got a few units over here but I never knew anyone that owned one, my units all seem to be from musicians, they have sessions on the discs. I still think they'll come back, maybe not as strong as vinyl or tape but as a cool way to listen to tangible music.
