    Hello there,

Has anyone had any experience with those Aliexpress USB-C re-chargeable Lithium batteries that mimic gumstick batteries?

I bought a used WM-F701C, but have no batteries for it, so I'm at the crossroads of buying a set of no-name NI-MH batteries on Amazon + an old Sony battery charger or one of those lithium batteries since they are around the same price in total.

I did buy one of them as a PS-S5 replacement for an Aiwa HS-JX707 that I was trying to repair but wasn't able to test long-term performance since I failed to fix it before moving to Japan.

I have one and it works just fine. Don’t know if the 800mAh is ‘real’, I simply charge when needed via USB-C.
You can’t judge the battery status on the LCD on the unit or remote though: the status appears as full, until it dies.
I prefer it over the newer NiMH batteries, simply because those old chargers have not a lot of battery management intelligence in them. The batteries get really warm as well when charging in those bricks.

Any feedback on the playback time compared to NI-MH or NI-CD batteries?

Not really, as the cells you get with these oldies are usually no good due to age.
I use the later MiniDisc portables with the gumstick for several days on low to mid volume with IEMs.
They will not be as good as the NH-10WM (or 14) for that matter, the capacity is simply lower.
However, there is no memory effect on the Lithium ion replacements.
Since there are relatively affordable, I would not even consider buying the regular replacements.

Then I'll go for lithium, might eventually get around to testing the true capacity since I have one of those inline USB charging testers.

Yes, please test these. As you can see in the photo I attached, only the form factor seems to differentiate the 3 I have.

Did you save the link(s) for where you bought those? I searched for "mr chan batteries" and didn't find these models.
