I've seen a couple - but they wanted way too much!!!! Maybe if I can sell my Boodo Khan - I can get a nice 707 (or maybe a 909!!!)

PIoneer RT-707 is the most beautiful looking R2R . The bigger brother RT-909 is bulky but higher model. My Davao rite of all R2R is 707

I really like the black 707 in Nando's ebay link above. But $1500 US is a bit much. Same price as a technics 1506 and it would match my home stereo!!!

Almost all of the 707's on eBay are in the US - high shipping costs, duties(?), exchange rate etc - drive up the price here in Canada

Don't know much about this model. Had an Akai 4000ds along time ago. Wasn't too bad - did have a few issues though...

If you like the low-profile look of the RT-707, the Akai GX-77 offers that. It has exceptional specs and I have a number of tapes I bought - originally, only to re-record over, but the recording and music is so good - which were recorded on a Akai GX-77.

Is that your r2r? Looks really nice! Not firm on low profile. Just that it fits in a rackmount.

Yes, that's my Akai GX-221. I bought it at the Salvation Army thrift store in North Vancouver for $30 .

I will post a video of it playing, but it might not be able to be viewed by anyone not having a Photobucket account.

I have the RT-707 and RT-909, but I use my RT-707 more often than the RT-909.

Ok - dumb question - but do you want to sell the 909? I think I already know the answer (and besides it is probably out of my price range).

But the real question is - do you need a mint Boodo Khan in trade?

Oh and by the way - real nice stereo setup. Is that a Pioneer DVD or cd player? Was looking for the Sony 400 blu ray dvd player (model 960?) for whenever I get my stereo/home theatre room setup. Reminds of the other Pioneer equipment I would like - but is out of my price range - the Pioneer Spec series - would look great with the 707 or 909!!!

Sorry, Brian, I am keeping the RT-909. I've already sold a few open-reel decks, including the fabled Akai GX-747. Both the RT-707 and RT-909 were purchased from a friend of mine a number of years ago. Robert and I became friends after I bought his Pioneer R2Rs. I sold the Akai GX-747 to finance the purchase of a vintage Pioneer receiver - the King Of The Hill Sx-1980.

Thanks for the compliment. The 301 CD changer is a Pioneer Elite PD-F19. I run a lot of Pioneer Elite gear and silver-faced Spec gear.

Now here is a classic R2R that I found downstairs!!!! I think I got this when I was 5 or 6? and it still works (although it does seem to have an issue with wow and flutter)! Probably needs new belts.....

Cool unit, Brian. Just today, I popped into a local record store I frequent, and the co-owner of the shop just picked up a nice little Sony tabletop open-reel deck. He doesn't have any 5" tape or a take-up reel to test it, but I should be able to help him out there.
