I just picked up this awesome Pioneer RT 1020L Reel to Reel and was excited to open it up and really check it out. RTR's are cool when you open them up because everything is huge and usually pretty easy to work on. I was out in the shop tonight and had some extra time and I popped the hood, woooow, lot's of fuzzy in here.

It powers up fine, FF, RWD both work but the reels don't turn when playing. There's a hanging plastic strap up by the right reel, maybe it's supposed to actuate something? There's two toggle switches inside the box, for some reason that's cool, never seen it before. The chassis is really neat with cast aluminum? Most of these are pressed steel.

I always wanted a full size Pioneer RTR, hopefully I can get this one back up to working condition. I'm impressed that it takes 10" reels and can also be used for quad stereo.
