Last week I received a new boombox, that I caught at Yahoo Japan – the Panasonic RX-FW38. It was produced for Japanese market only and seems to be quite rare. Funny thing is, that all decals are in English. It works without problems with double auto reverse, just need a new arial. Sound is quite good with Loudness enabled.
The vents on the side are just a “design thing”. They have no function (no connection to the speakers). It also has no ambience mode, just “low – high” sound slider and a Loudness switch. This boombox is more on the “nice looking” then on the “sophisticated” side. For cleaning I opened the box. It has just one motor for both decks and all functions; together with a solenoid, one huge and two small belts. But I like it anyhow.
Great find, that thing is beautiful! It looks like it's small enough to qualify for mini-status, I've been on a mini-bender lately.
