Noise when Rewinding/FF

I'm getting my old WM-FX101 back in working order. The speed was slow which was fixed by the speed adjustment pot. Now I notice that when I rewind or FF, I hear a deafening whooshing sound through the right channel of the audio out that sounds like the motor.

I'm not sure what could cause this.

 

...and this issue resolved itself by taking it apart and putting it back together. Works for me!
