I love accessories and try to keep an open eye for when they do show up for sale. Something that caught my eye when looking for information on Olympus MicroCassette Players was their SP5 Speaker System. It was kind of cool looking in the brochure, and I have to believe, an extremely rare accessory for their stereo microcassette players. Luck was in the stars, there was a BIN on ebay for this exact set, which I promply purchased sight unseen.

They showed up today and they are pretty cool and heavy. Construction is 1/4 pressboard with a laminate finish. The front is metal with a metal speaker cover and the unit is self-powered! Not only is there a option for wall wart power but they also hold 4 C-cell batteries in the back. They have two mini-jack ports for AMP IN and DIRECT IN, I'm assuming one bypasses the internal amp.

These are pretty mint with no scratches, a definate cool addition for my Olympus SR11.

Microcassette fever is hitting! Sweet unit Philip Taylor, that's one I'm still keeping an eye out for and I'm kicking myself for not getting a boxed unit last year BIN. Let us know how those Russian Tapes sound, he's been selling them for a little over a year and it's a pretty neat business, although probably not totally legit. I figure he's loading shells with metal tape from cassette tapes but have no idea, it's time for someone to do a review.

That is a good deal Philip. I sold a new in box one, without headphones, for over £400 in the last year and bought a used in box without headphones for £175 this year.
