Ok, so here it finally! The SK-900 has finally arrived and it's been repaired, but it's not quite there yet. It has some trouble playing metal tapes. It chews metal tapes or in this case, it nicks them by chewing them ever so slightly on the very edges of the tape, I have two metal tapes that I can luckily use to test the unit. It's chewing/nicking the tape about 1/3 of a mm just on the side of the tape. It plays Type I and II without any problem and with great sound. I have no idea why it bites the metal tapes though. I'm posting some pictures, after all I've waited long enough to do this, but I'll repost this Pioneer once it's all just like I want it.
Thats one of my old pics incase you don't see them welcome back mate, btw change the pinch roller, that is 100% the culprit, don't try and repair the roller because you can't dosen't matter what anybody says, good luck
Hey Reno, Thanks mate! So what do I do then? It does not bite the Type I's and II's though, why does it not like the IV's?
Aint got a clue why she don't like metal tapes tony, just change the roller job done, iv tried dosens of times to fix rollers with no succes latest one was an m90 i spent about 10 hours on the roller and still no go, she only chewed tapes at the beginning, new roller job done lad, btw there are a few of my boxes posted up think there on the main forum
Tony,...... beautiful 909!!!!! Those backlights are not original correct? If not who did the mod? It's real cool!
Hi there radio raheem ! I have a chance to buy a sk900. Is it worth it? How does it compare to a pana egg DT7 or a sony fh-7 (some of my reference boombox) in terms of sound quality and power. Regards ...
How does the SK900 compare to other top end boomboxes in terms of power and sound quality ? Is it up there with the other TOTL ?
It's like comparing apples to oranges Alan, for an 80's box it's great but nothing compared to a dt 9....if it's cheap it's well worth the buy lad, these normally sell for £500 so that gives you an idea on value
Nice to hear from you bro. well , it's around $80 USD with busted tape deck. Might take a chance then.
That's a good deal even for a beat up version. If the tape deck is intact but just needs a belt or roller I'd jump on it.
Well, the master's has spoken, so be it ! Asking for a short demo video to be sure it's Tuner and Aux input is working then dive in for me.
