    Hi folks,

This is my childhood personal stereo player, the Sanyo MGR 80. My dad bought it for me back in the 80s when I was a kid.

I am wondering if anyone here knows... is it possible to replace one door that has an equalizer on it, with another that's the same?
The only difference being the one that's on it looks rough, scratched, and is worn down, but the other door looks mint, shiny, and new.

If it is possible to do, I'd rather get someone who's familiar with working on personal stereos to do the job, as I've never worked on one.

Here it is, with the rough looking door that's currently on it...

    The nice, new looking door...

That green ribbon cable most likely goes to a plastic female plug inside the main body. If you can get the unit fully apart it should be easy to see. Just unplug the old door, replug the new door. Keep an eye out for little springs on the door and do the work in a box so you don't lose the little screws.

I was given a similar model, the MGP30 - without the radio
The door on this one was falling off, it looks like the snap in hinges have unfortunately snapped off both ends of the red door.
There is a small spring which clips into the brass eyelet in the door.
As Mister-X says - the ribbon cable on the door connects to the main board so it should be a fairly simple job.
I need to replace some capacitors on mine but have not got round to this - yet
    Good luck with the repair
