I know that quite a few people here (especially Ken) are into 1980s music.
I suppose it goes with the 1980s technology.

Last Saturday I went to the Lets Rock Southampton concert so thought you might like to see a few photos of some of the artists there

and finally the headliners The Human League

The funny thing is I didn't really get to see that many chart bands in the 1980s as few
of them toured (although my first ever convert was Ultravox).

Have you seen any twentieth century bands recently ?

I saw a fair few back in the day, my favorite being Jazzy B and Soul to Soul. I was called up to pick raffle tickets and got a signed Tshirt and a Labbats wallet from Jazzy B :applause:guitarist

    I was over the moon!

More recently I went to see Robbie Williams at the Arena in Cardiff (for my sister, it was awesome tho) and on August the 9th i am off to see Toots and the Maytals, i am so looking forward to that one :groupwave

Soul II Soul were there last year
    Soul II Soul.JPG

Back in the day I can remember going to see The Cool Notes on the basis that a band who were in the charts were actually playing in Bristol, where I lived at the time.
You were far more likely to get some Heavy Metal group from the 1970s there.

I have been trying to think who I would still like to see:

Debbie Gibson (who would be perfect for a Retro Concert).
Lady Gaga and Cher, who are probably too young and too old respectively.

Maybe Banarama who I have seen as a two piece but are touring as a three piece for the first time later in the year.

I have seen both Madonna and Kylie, and a few people who were my ex girlfriends choice like Robbie Williams (in Dublin)
and George Michael (at Earls Court).

Great to see such a Big Band for one more time . David Gahan is such a cool Frontman
Martin Gore is the soul of the Band and Andy Fletcher is a music Genious .

I certainly wouldn't mind seeing Depeche Mode for free.

Do they still play any of their really old stuff ? Most of my favourite tracks of theirs, like Photographic, are from when Vince Clark was still with them.

Before even watching the Depeche Mode video Deech linked to I was going to say that it is very difficult / impossible for any recording to capture the atmosphere of being there. I am sure the people at the concert thought it was amazing.

Personally I have never been to football match in my life, but I'm not a football fan and couldn't name a single player from any of my local teams. The only times I have been to football stadiums were to see Madonna, and more recently Elton John.

I agree Longman if you are not there to see it LIVE no video can compare with the feeling.
Depeche Mode arent playing tracks from back when they were with Vince Clark but they do play some early stuff.
The playlist can be found here :

    https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/depeche-mode/2017/terra-vibe-malakasa-greece-53e7fb61.html

Photographic is such a brilliant tune, wish it was played.

For me the best period of the band was about 1992-1993
    with their Devotional Tour,
when David Gahan got back from his heroin addiction
and Alan Wilder was back on drums with Martin Gore at its best
and Andy Fletcher at synths so Kraftwerkish Robotised .

I will link the video of ''I Feel You'' from the Barcelona Devotional date of 1993 which
is jaw droping with such a great show unfolding in front of the eyes of those who were lucky to be there. :)

The play with the shadows, the backing vocals , the druming style of Alan Wilder
the dark (positive) energy flawing from the band is simply amazing .

I feel you, your sun, it shines.
I feel you within my mind.
You take me there, you take me where the kingdom comes.
You take me to, and lead me through Babylon.

Didn't know Depeche Mode when I bought their first album, just liked (intrigued by) the cover ,must have been 1981.Since then have bought everything they released over the years and have seen them live here in Athens ,I think Deech was also there but back then we didn't know each other!
Since the question is about 20th century bands seen recently, I was lucky enough to be in Athens Release Festival 2017 (2. 6. 2017).
The show opened by my sister known as Etten and the featured band was Röyksopp with Jonna Lee, a Norwegian band formed in 1998.

    Thanks for the playlist.

Good to see Heroes there. You probably know that it was a performance of Heroes that led to Davis Gahan being asked to join the band.

    Looking around Youtube I found

    from 2010

    and

    from 2013

You guys are lucky, specially those of you in the UK and US. Here in spain very few big international artists come to do a concert...

In Hollywood bowl there is always something going one. For example Depeche Mode performing on 12, 14,16 and 18th of October.

Seen Human League too...loved it. Next month I'm going to see Soul II Soul, one of my favourites the Fun Lovin Criminals, as well as Madness and the Buzzcocks. Should be fun :)

Seen Bad Manners in the 80's and the 00's. Howard Jones, Toyah Wilcox, Limp Bizkit, the Prodigy, Def Leppard, ZZ Top (even stood next to them in the backstage bar), No Doubt, Garbage (hung out backstage in Arizona with them including Butch Vig who produced the Nirvana album Nevermind)...I could go on lol :)

I love live music. There's nothing like the pulse and energy of a crowd during a show.

In the past I've seen Rush (x6) Pink Floyd (x2) Roger Waters, AC/DC (for those about to rock, we salute you), Black Sabbath (with DIO in lieu of Ozzy), Iron Maiden (x2 including 2017), U2 (x12...don't ask. It's a sickness. I even had front row for the Songs Of Innocence! pics if called for!) Saga (x3, met the band and got autographs) Triumph, Tea Party, Snow Patrol, Lumineers more recently and Coldplay (x2)

Past regrets include Led Zep, Queen, Wayne Newton.

P.S I lied about Wayne Newton. I just wanted to test you guys:smoke

I go to around 50+ concerts a year, we're blessed with a ton of clubs up here and now the casinos have really gotten into shows so the calendar gets full quick. Autoreverser, I saw the stones a couple years ago, had great seats and they were really good, I'm really glad I went because they won't be around forever. I'm not a fan of the big-box shows but have made the exception for the Stones, Iron Maiden, TOOl, and a few others that would never play a club again (although Sting played our local club and I was about 20' away and could drink a beer without someone knocking it). I've got John Carpenter (Halloween) and LCD Soundsystem coming up next.
