So, I am really enjoying this process. Good job too because it aint cheap!

Defo getting my moneys worth from the vendor with some new updates and revisions

So the fit and finish is way nicer.
Ive asked for flatter studs, but I do like the retro feel of the round ones. However, my preference is towards flatter if possible.
The belt loop has been amended to my preferred width. A little more substantial still than the original, but belts are thicker and wider these days, and our DD units will welcome that extra bit of reassurance.

All thats missing is our custom DD emboss and then I should have the samples in hand for some proper photography

These are great news. Count me in.
I think it's too wide. A copy of the original it would be just fine, like the one Toocool made for him.
What's sort of small ball in the bottom end in this last photo? Is that the stud?

Yes, its a ball stud on the sample. We are asking for a flatter stud

The revised belt width has been finalised because of personal preference (please dont confuse it with the super wide width on the first version).

    Consider yourself counted in

If these DD cases are a success, then we will get more done and do an all new design for the DD9, 701c type body and the wm-103 type bodies. We shall see how this first phase goes down first

    Big update for you all...

The first 3 samples (the last stage before production) are on their way to me....

As you can see, the Embossed DD is in place, and keeps it generic so works with DD, DC-2 etc

Studs now changed for flat studs

    Belt loop revised

Let me know your thoughts. As soon as these are assessed in hand and pics taken, I will be taking orders.

    THIS IS HAPPENING!

Its a great time for the DD user. With Marian working hard for a new gear, the return of tape into the mainstream and now a proper case for an equally proper machine, this is a great time to be the proud owner of a DD unit (well, Im happy anyway!)

its on the list. lets see how well this phase goes. first factory run is limited to 20 units to get the ball rolling. Further runs possible, subject to demand.

    great
I have a suggestion, Have you ever thought about the combination colors? If you look at the picture i placed here shows a 2 tone color makes thing very catchy.
I dont mind to pay high price to a case that is similar to this design for DC2 ( well, obviously this is a wallet and not a walkman case but unfortunately this type of design never made for walkman)

Your work is great and all i am suggesting is to make it more appealing.

Thanks BK. All things considered. Lets see how well the basic DD one sells and then that will give me an idea of demand.

As time goes on spares and accessories will diminish so it makes good sense to plan for the future. Talking of protection for Walkmans, has anyone tried vinyl wrapping? If it's trusted to protect expensive sports cars perhaps it could be repurposed...

First two samples have arrived. Will post some nice pics later today.

A few changes to be made: the case is currently 6mm too tall and the lowest part of the window needs to be raised a smudge. The workshop are all over this.

So, how are they? Well I just can't stop looking at them! The leather is so so nice (sorry vegans). It certainly paid off to go for a soft quality leather.

The DD emboss is perfect. I love the new leather strap and clips! And the Walkman itself just looks amazing in a new minty case! This may not be as ground breaking as Marians DD gear assembly, but it this will go a long way to further enhancing your DD joy.

On the hip, using the belt loop, it looks fantastic. Stay tuned for picture updates. I am so happy.

    £60 each plus shipping

Will offer a discount for multiple orders.

Currently wearing mine with the shoulder strap in the office. Smells great! and the soft leather strap is very easy on the shoulder... no annoying cutting feeling like you get with the old nylon straps.

The DC2 I am using it with is one that was restored by Marian. It was a very quiet and smooth running machine. In the case, its completely silent (an of course, wonderfully protected)

Okay thanks. I never use the shoulder strap, only on my D6C. I only ever use the belt strip, i can always try the shoulder strap with the D6C instead of the original one.
Just going to send you a PM.

Just one thing looking at the picture, the belt strip looks too large. Have you used it on a belt yet rather than on a shoulder strap? I think the movement on a belt will be too much.

Been using it on the belt for the last few hours. Again, all is well.

We tried a few different versions, and after realising that today's belts are typically wider than belts from the 80's, this revision works best.

    Thanks
