Hi, I've recently purchased a junk lot of Sony Discmans and the two that work the most have the same problem. When I'm playing my CD's the music is a bit distorted and the lyrics are barely audible. Both of them work otherwise fine and have no problem reading the discs. I've looked at the boards but they have no visible capacitor leakage or bulging. Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
mainboard of a similar Discman, Kenwood DPC-531, looks pretty good: But - all capacitors are Dead or Seriously Bad when tested for capacitance and ESR: Set of new caps cost more than resale value of such Discmans, hopefully your Sonys have different problem. Like bad jacks/solder joints, missing Ground, etc
Jorge, that is become more of a issue Bad capacitors and price depends how many you buy I buy a lot of them from Mouser and Digi Key . Sincerely Richard
So I've replaced all the through hole and the 2 big smd capacitors on my D-135 and the sound quality is a bit better but I've noticed that when I play at low volume it sounds how it should but if I turn the volume up it starts to distord.
Yangglue, So, answer me this what are you using far as headphone or what are you using to listen to this CD player through ? Like with my Sony Cassette walkman I am using a pair of Sony MDR V-150s and well they sound great ! Sincerely Richard
Sorry I forgot to mention this part. For testing I'm using Sony mdr-ex155 earbuds and logitech g-pro headset both of these I use regularly so I know they aren't faulty.
