Hi everyone. I am hobbyists and collector of cassette walkmans, boomboxes and radios. Due to difficulties to find technicians near me who can fix such vintage electronics I began to train myself in repairing old electronics. I don't know if i am writing on right place but when I tried to open a thread in walkman section the system gave me a warning saying that I need to introduce myself. At the moment I am trying to fix a Sony TPS-L2. I changed all the rubbers, there was a low pitched noise and then all in a sudden it cut power. No lights, no movement whatsoever. What possibly went wrong? Where do I need to check? Since i am new here, I don't know if i am posting this on the right place and please forgive my English since it's not my native language. Thanks in advance

    Welcome to the forum flyman!

After you fix your Walkman please tell us about the wonderful electronics in Turkey. Years ago I was on Istikal Avenue and found an electronics shop with a huge old boombox, I had a backpack and no way to carry it.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think once you've posted here, you can post in the other forums, I'd post the question in the Walkman Tech Threads.

    Good luck!

Hello and welcome to the forum, @flyman !

I think it's best to create a separate thread on Tech Talk section in regard to your problem.
But you need to investigate it further first, as at this point there's really not much we can help you with.
Start to check any broken wires, especially in the DC in jack area. Given there's no power at all, that's the most likely scenario.

I recommend downloading the service manual and start your way from the battery terminal and go along and see where you have an open circuit.
