My Sony WM-EX7 is a beauty of a player, but I have not used it for several years until now. Seems that the two original GumStick NiCad batteries will not hold a charge, so I'm seeking a source for newbie or new-old-stock NiCad Batteries.

Does anyone at the forum have experience and/or best sources for Sony NC-6WM rechargeable NiCads?

    Merci

I don't have any rechargeable equipment that use these rechargeable batteries but these are on ebay. Gumstick batteries have been talked about for a long time due to some models not having a modern equivalent. The good news is that I never have leaks with my really oddball rechargeables that I tend to leave in the battery compartments.

Hi there. I have one of these batteries that came with the Sony ex-615 walkman. Never used it. Tried to charge it and now i get 4 hours play. What i'm saying is- try charging it up in an external charger. It may only charge for 10 minutes. Take battery out of charger and try it in the wm. If no go charge again and keep trying several times as long as the battery is not swollen. I also did this on some Sony 14 rechargeable batteries that had never been used for many years and now i get nearly 6 hours of playback from them. Dont give up after the 1st charge but do keep an eye on the battery. Use a charger with light indicator- good luck.

    Thanks for the responses....

I purchased a HQRP NiCad battery via eBay.Com. Cleaned up the walkman player battery contacts, poped in a C-60 cassette, all is good now.

I'll tinker with and recharge the orig Sony gumsticks too, always good to have backups !

    Cheers,

    Bleusy

Found a Mini-Disc that used those once... Couldn't find a replacement immediately, so I adapted a [2 D-cell] battery holder to power it via the external DC-input, and attached it to the back with double-sided velcro tape. I don't know what amount of time the gumstick is rated for with that deck, but the D-cells made it play for hours and hours!
