I am having trouble releasing the ribbon cable on this model. The cable seem to be for the radio function in 5he door. Any help will be greatly appreciated. 20230612_230304.jpg

You need to release the metal tab first in order to remove the flex cable. The direction of movement is up and down from the angle of which the photo is taken.
If after releasing the tab the flex still doesn't come out try to spray contact cleaner inside (Kontakt 60 or Deoxit) it and leave it sit for a couple of hours, then try again.
It is VERY important NOT to use force, as the flex will break easily.

To remove the PCB you will also need to desolder the head flex cable. For that I recommend adding some leaded solder and while the solder is molten, gently pull the flex up.
Using force will rip the pads off the flex and it will be harder to solder it back when done.

For re-soldering the flex you need to clean the old solder first. You do that by swiping the tip of your soldering iron over the pads and then clean the tip.
Multi layer toilet paper or paper napkins work very well for cleaning the tip of the soldering iron.
After both the flex and PCB are clean of old solder, apply solder to the top pad, align the flex on the PCB (there is a line on the silkscreen) and let the solder flow below the flex.
Then add solder to the second until it flows under and so on.

Check post #18 in this thread (https://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/list-of-walkman-portable-recorders-common-problems.7535/) for common problems regarding this mechanism.

Thank you very much and for the link to additional information on this model. I will attempt again once I reach home.

I released it by sliding the top toward the ribbon. 20230612_230304.jpg
