Anybody own or touched one of the TDK Life On Record Boomboxes? We've got some locally for sale but I've never heard any input on them. The bigger one seems to go for decent money and they actually look kind of promising. It there a speaker cover for the front or do they have exposed cones? https://www.ebay.com/itm/TDK-LIFE-ON-RECORD-TP6803BLK-3-SPEAKER-SUPER-BOOM-BOX-BLACK/113679967132?_trkparms=aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=20160908105057&meid=6703803cf9db4810a795cd16cafe7cb2&pid=100675&rk=1&rkt=15&sd=113679967132&itm=113679967132&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci:fccf8559-4bf5-11e9-825b-74dbd18034dd|parentrq:a112ab741690aa46966228f1fffba0a7|iid:1 https://www.ebay.com/itm/TDK-TP6802...rentrq:a112ab741690aa46966228f1fffba0a7|iid:1
They're really good build quality, and sound great too. Sort of a GQ living room blaster. They never came with grills. Some people have had problems with the volume pot malfunctioning. Also if the owner didn't do the firmware update correctly, it might brick. That's why you need to pick it up in person so you can inspect it.
my life is pretty simple: if boombox does not have cassette replay, it is Not a boombox but an iPod, i-whatever dock. as simple as that...
After new/old member Brian mentioned wanting one I saw a few here for sale, they look pretty nice and have held their value. If you don't count my ION, my newest boombox is 28 years old. I actually like cranking up the bluetooth ION and don't have to worry about it as much as the older stock. I just don't want to drive out and look at it and find out it's cheap crap.
I have the ION Jobrocker, just a brut of a unit. It has an internal rechargable battery that will go several hours at full volume and the build quality is excellent.
