OK, time to start this fred again - I'm (...proudly) starting. After 5 years of work I got my 1977 Dino 208 GT4 back on the road. 2l V8 What a hell of a loud, stinky and fast car - soooooo much fun ! Engine is completely overhauled (pistons, pushrods, valves etc. - besides block, prop- and camshafts almost everything new), new suspension, new brakes and some minor body-works...
Love seeing what other members drive, for either regular-duty or occasional-use. I have been involved with performance cars going back 40 years. That should date me. My occasional-use collector car is a 1986 Buick Grand National, which has 70K original kilometers. I have maintained it in stock condition. Still has the original exhaust. I have the original factory rims and Goodyear tires for it, but it's too dangerous driving on 30-year old tires. Have a few other cars, too, including a recent buy just a couple of weeks ago - a 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo with 144K on the odometer. And this is Hugo's mix tape, which I listened to not long after I received it: Nando.
A work van with a broken windshield, or a nice fresh rental car - But never at the same time. Seriously. Love that GN, BTW!
My daily driver is a 1989 Buick Electra Estate Wagon. I have four children - who are all adults, now - but, I was never into mini vans. More room in the wagon. This car has been featured in a few advertisements and two movies. This is the only car I have owned that made me money, without having to sell it. Nando.
Ford Ranger 2016, Nissan 350z (the latter of which has a pretty nice factory installed Bose head unit and speakers / driver side Sub with CASSETTE)
Just taken a photo of my two vehicles together to give you a laugh...tiny blue job for daily nipping about, big dayglo one for fun
The van looks longer, and it is... as my wagon is 18' 4" long. The wagon weighs in at just under 4300 lbs., dry weight. Being a lover of the Buick marque, I have owned a few Buicks. I sold this one a couple of years ago to a friend. It is a 1971 Buick GS 455. Original drive train, full documentation, and only 57 K miles on the odometer, when I bought it 2007. Nando.
HOLY CRAP! There's some fantastic vehicles here but I have to say my absolute Fav is the Grand National! I've been a fan for MANY years and still get the chills when I see this beast. FYI for those interested in an interesting fact the Buick GNX could out-accelerate a Lamboghini Countach and a Ferrari Testarrosa 0-60 MPH, back in it's day. (Road and Track Magazine). Not bad for a "family" car! I owned a 87' Olds Cultlass with the 5.0 V8 engine and it was sweet and easily modded. It couldn't hold a candle to the Turbo 3.8 though. My first car was a 72' Olds 442 (hence the name in the avatar!) 455 C.I.D. engine. When you'd start it, you can watch the gas gauge go down while idling! It would rumble at idle and vibrate the neighborhood. I LOVED that beast. It's nickname---Brutus. For more info see the Youtube doc "Black Air" (update..not a very good copy remains on Youtube but here's the best one I found At approx. 23:00 Car and Driver gives it's evaluation..very cool. Elite-ist----do yourself a favour. Treasure that baby and hang on to it. It's value will appreciate immensely over time. It's a sleeper for sure I'll post some pics of my trucks when I get the damn salt off of them. Our winter hasn't been bad but our Highway maintenance seems to think we're expecting the "Day After Tomorrow" like snowfall...all of the time
It's just diddy...but I pay zero road tax and the lowest group insurance because of it. I love it because it's very much like the little lightweight hatchbacks I drove when I was younger...great fun to drive and nippy if there's only you in it and you thrash it
Finally got around to getting the truck washed. It looked like it was driven through the Dead Sea. A 2006 Ford F150 with the 5.4L Triton engine. She's got 200,000 very hard driven kilometers on it and everything works perfectly..even the air conditioning! (I don't need it today as it was -1) My neighbour's 2000 Olds Aurora in the background dressed in white. My son's 2012 Toyota Corolla (caked in salt) and in front of it (just barely visible) is my wife's 2006 Dodge Durango with the Hemi 5.7L V8. This engine could tow the Titanic...I swear. Pay no attention to the Christmas lights still up.....it's on the honey-do list but I put it off for another day
