Well, it happened! My beautiful WM-D6 finally came up with an issue I can't fix on my own, at least not without some soldering. While I'm not exactly a stranger to soldering, I'm not an expert in the complexities of my dear Walkman. As early as yesterday, I started noticing some distortion when playing back one of my favorite albums (The Who's Tommy, to be exact). Upon further listening, the symptoms are as such: the device plays flawlessly for a few minutes (5-10min or so), and then distortion becomes quite noticeable, and quickly drowns out any clean sound. If I continued to let it play, it seems like all sound would cease. From what I've read, it seems like people suggest the mute module may be the culprit? I've gone crazy for tapes since getting this machine, and this is my only player. I'm sad this has happened but hopeful I can fix it. Any help/advice is much much appreciated! Thanks!
