I purchased one of these and wow! The bass and overall sound are fantastic. It has a closed back design with bass ports in front. The bass hits hard and very deep. The mids are mildly recessed. The highs are crisp but non fatiguing. I could listen to this box all day and I gave been since receiving it. You can't compare it to an 80's one piece because it blows them all away. The depth and richness of sound can't be duplicated by an 80's box. You get the sound and bass of a 3 piece monster in a small I piece design. Truly amazing little boombox.

And the tuner has better reception than most of my vintage boxes, even though there's no external antenna.
