Hey, take a look on that little beauty, which I repaired in 2013 for a good friend from munich: It seems to be a regular TPS-L2, right? But heres the backside: STEREO in white ... but then, the really special comes to daylight: The headphone jacks are labeled "GUYS & DOLLS" The Serial-Number is 34460
Oh ok, it's probably quite low. This one sold on eBay recently for €571.57 and it has a serial of about 27000. My TPS-L2 isn't a 'guys and dolls' version but it still has quite a low serial number of about 56000
E o meu TPS-L2? Serial tem 28 219 .... o look state é novo. E o meu TPS-L2? Serial tem 28 219 .... o look state é novo. Trabalhe bem e soa bem. Claro que há pouco ruído sem dolby.
[QUOTE = "Chris, post: 12037, membro: 528"] Uau, isso está em excelente condição! [/ QUOTE] Obrigado Chris. Meu TPS L2 não arranha. Limpo e brilhante. Foi o meu primo que me deu. Graças a Deus. Obrigado, primo, você cuidou bem deles há anos.
I asked Stefan about the serial number of his Guys & Dolls Walkman (photos at the beginning of thread ) It has Serial No.34460
The allocation of the serial number of TPS-L2 is not traceable. For example: I noticed that the deepest numbers have those units with brown leather case.....
That's indeed a truly rare unit. As far as I know, only few units were made during the first months of production until they changed to the less cool A & B. I knew about this rare unit because of @renzgi in a post in the old forum, so thanks Renato!
The Guys&Dolls Walkman from Gold & Silver Pawn Shop Swag has serial Nr. 23622 As Seen on "Pawn Stars," Season 15, Episode 17 : And here's the offer in his Shop : https://gspawn.com/1979-sony-walkman-stereo-cassette-player-tps-l2-guys-dolls-version/
Whenever this subject comes up I think this would be the ideal cassette to play in one. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152887604423?ViewItem=&item=152887604423
This Japanese Blog confirms the 30,000 number, but who really knows. (use google translate if you can't read it) Great find! I would love to find one of those in the wild around here, I have to believe they're still around, and I just saw that Pawn Stars, cool episode! By translating this "GUYS & DOLLS" it means "bastards and women", and Sony's message such as "Please enjoy (with couples) with two people" http://appletechlab.jp/blog-entry-1347.html
Of course when I look a little further, here's a Guys & Dolls Walkman Serial Number 468458, it went for close to $1000.00 USD, there's two "sold" listings on this site. https://boomboxjapan.buyshop.jp/items/4124375
