I have several walkmans (EX series) that share the same headphone connection that you can see in the picture I have this controller but the connection port to headphone is not the regular 3.5mm . It is somehow a special connector. Does anybody know the name of this connector? Is there any adaptor that can convert the wierd connection (marked with red circle) to regular 3.5mm headphone jack
If it looks like the picture below, it's the Sony micro plug which can be used with the PC-MP1S audio adapter. I have a couple sony headphones with this connector. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-Micro-Plug-Stereo-Mini-Jack-Pc-Mp1S-New/322419643627
Yes thanks, I just picked one up too! Also, there's another mini connector which I have somewhere which is just the part that slots into the Walkman socket with a 3.5 socket on the top where the headphone cord would be. This bypasses the need for the remote lead altogether and allows you to plug regular headphones direct to the Walkman.
My, Oh My! And I thought that my thread on batteries for Walkmans is "below the belt"! So many dangers for the newbies like me with Walkmans @Boodokhan Million Thanks for the tip!!!!!
I bought a Sony WM-EX5 and the remote head phones have the same micro connector jack, the cable looks damaged at the top of the connector and probably needs replacing or re-soldering (if I can get it apart). Is it possible to buy this micro connector from a component supplier these days? Or does anyone know how to repair one?
The headphone adaptor for Sony EX series called PC-WM1. search it and you can find it on ebay or yahoo Japan. https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/o484424608 https://www.ebay.ca/itm/25491627592...rentrq:442154c817a0a45b09b9051afff1764c|iid:1
Thanks @Boodokhan I need one of those too - but what I was asking about this micro jack on some of the Sony headphones. This one is hanging on by a few copper threads but the only replacement I can find costs a lot more than I am prepared to pay. Has anyone ever taken one of these apart?
This thread is Fun!!! 25 years ago I maxed all (then four) of my Credit Cards to get an entry ticket into Hi-End audio... but it was a buy of a $750 AudioQuest interconnect a few years later which made me realize that I am going nuts! Good'ol'Days,... I followed that initial breakdown with a $12k buy of Shunyata power cords for my Linn/Naim Audio..., and for a few moments I could even 'hear the difference'! @RTB - X-Acto or scalpel blade for the molding will expose all three wires going into that stupid coax connector; just re-solder the wires and use shrink-wrap to make it look Kosher again. Or use black epoxy/plastic tube to make it look like the original thing. I would offer my free help, but shipping back-and-forth across The Pond will be higher than a new adapter Definitely post your efforts here
Sugru (mouldable silicone) is what you need to re-insulate connectors. It starts out like Blu-Tack and a few hours later ends up like bath sealant, and can be mixed to any colour you want. Something really impressive I saw on their website was when someone 3D printed a mould for the Sugru to get the exact shape of the moulded on cable reinforcement.
