With almost 12,000 views in the 2 hours since this video has been released, I predict today sees a record number of first time visitors to Stereo2Go. Techmoan is a national treasure; his meticulous videos are the gold standard on YouTube in my opinion.
Great video, I've owned a D6C for about 3 months now and I've used it almost every day since because the sound quality is excellent so it makes listening to music a more enjoyable experience. I would also argue that it's probably one of the best value for money Walkmans because with the amount of D6Cs listed, it's quite easy to get one at a decent price.
I agree with you, Techmoan makes very high quality videos. I specially like his videos about old and bizarre hifi equipment Hopefully, the prices for my beloved Sony DD-series Walkmans don't increase by a lot now. Sadly, after videos like that it is often the case... There was one mistake in the video, however. Starting at 6 minutes 18 seconds, he says "by creating a new center gear made out of brass which will replace the plastic one". Actually, that's just the prototype as we all know. But don't be more royalist than the king. Nice video; as always.
I've just seen it, and all I can say is a BIG THANKS to Matt for this awesome video. He is the best prophet of the cassette community and his videos are excellent from any point of view. I'd love to see him here even from time to time but he told me he's very busy. Anyway, I'm so happy to be part of all this and I hope the cassette sees a revival like the vinyl.
He covered what I feel are great starting points for collectors: the D6C DDs, and the easy to repair EX600 mechanism series. Covers good sounding and reliable starting points. Great video, and should help those getting into the hobby.
The video was just posted on Popular Mechanics twitter timeline. http://www.popularmechanics.com/tec...to-buying-a-vintage-walkman/?src=socialflowTW
That screen shot he uses in the video has two of my pictures I've posted on here LOVE Techmoan and was even more excited to see him give s2g a shout out.
Techmoan's videos are always as interesting as they are captivating, the only issue is the usual price spike after a video is released. Im happy he hasn't reviewed any Aiwa so far. The upcoming flux of greenhorns means we are all going to need to contribute and finish that Frequently Asked Questions section.
