Reno, this beast weighs 15 kilos, I am not actually sure how to ship it safely. Do you live far from London, btw?
would you actually ship it Alex maybe in 2 boxes, it would have to be done on ebay as i have no paypal but i could pay with my credit card, i live about 300 miles from london lad in wales the middle of nowhere....i would gladly buy you're pc7 Alex but im not forcing you buddy, i just have one question lad, is she complete as by the looks of you're pics she is missing the flaps on the front
Got that, Sir! Flaps? You mean those 2 lids, buddy? There are in place, on the 1st pic were just open. Btw, PC-7 shares the same deck with PC-5, model # PC-D5, and missing flap on the deck is rather a common issue for this model.
Just now watched the YouTube video on the first post. That is a heck of a lot of electronic gadgetry. Wow!
Those scans were like porn to me in my early teens years, I could collect enough of them...before I understood what porn really was
True, Ebay mostly deserves its nickname "Epay" But sometimes you will stumble across a "Buy It Now" opportunity for something awesome you never knew existed. And make an instant decision that will thrill you to make it yours, and excited the whole time you are tracking it in the mail. Sweeter still if the item is painfully rare, the snappiest design in the range (rainbow?), in the original unopened packaging, and a screaming "Buy It Now" deal ($50 USD) This JVC "Hanging In" tote strap was made for these JVC boomboxes; can anyone name them all or add photos of other models it fits? I wonder what "Not for Sale" in the bottom left is all about. What took place after the below shots were taken? Holiday deathmatch or group love (Vote)? View attachment 9998 My second exciting & spontaneous no-brainer "Buy It Now" Ebay score is this Marantz 2230 receiver. (Thanks again, Peter) Paid $200 USD plus shipping. Minty & complete with wood case WC-22, all packaging, manual & schematic. But needs repair. Check out this fellow Canadian's similar Marantz jackpot: https://www.iamthejeff.com/post/26/marantz-2230-an-unboxing My third & final notable EBay purchase of the year is this (unseen online) Marantz brochure/booklet/pamphlet/catalogue/catalog/advertising. I wonder what year in the early to mid 1970's it was produced. Happy holiday (reading) to all at S2G!
It's all love in the boombox world (this is where boom came from)....so no deathmatch....Holy cow did you score! I want to believe it's like stories you read of guys buying old buildings that might have had a toy store. In the basement is some of the old inventory, when they pull it out it's the coolest old toys, still in the boxes left for 40-50 years. My two Panasonic Silk Posters came from a music shop like that. The guy had boxes of advertising, clocks, displays, etc. from 30+ years ago. I bought a bunch from him but he had a ton more. .....You have to be kidding about the Marantz! You must have updated your post, thanks for the pictures! I've been scanning the BIN, this is the best time of the year, for various reasons people aren't bidding and things are going cheap. I gravitate towards Marantz when I see it and have a small but growing collection, in fact I was just going to post to my beer and boombox thread a certain brand. Keep your eye out for Marantz HD-880 Speakers, they're fricken huge and nice in a frathouse sort of way. They really go good with the bigger receivers (again I won't debate the sound quality). I see them listed as local pickup only for cheap because it would take a pallet to ship them.
Received this gorgeous PIONEER "Personal Stereo" brochure/pamphlet/catalogue/catalog/booklet/manual/advertising/poster from EBay today. 3.5 inches by 9.25 inches when folded. 34.5 inches by 18.5 inches when opened. Double sided glossy paper. Printed in USA in 1981 by Pioneer Electronics of America. The SK-95 & SK-71 are phenomenal & my favourites here, there and everywhere. The SK-21 & SK-31 are kinda meh. Don't have any of the others, but the SK-900 would be most desirable as top of the line. At first I thought I was just really high to see Malcolm-Jamal Warner from the Cosby Show holding the SK-51: Before I noticed sweaty George Wendt from Cheers with the SK-21 & camel toe: Do you recognize any other actors here pimped out by NBC as PIONEER brochure models before the Thursday night line up caught fire?
Thanks for the scan! Just in time I have another mono Pioneer coming and I can see how sweet it is. I hadn't seen the full line up before, now I know I need a bunch more and they aren't too easy to find......
I noticed in the background of some of Techmoan's videos a Napa Valley wood 100 cassette rack. You can even see one on his channel page here: https://www.youtube.com/user/Techmoan They sell all the time on eBay but they are bulky so shipping makes them unaffordable. I was hoping the two in the first picture that I picked up locally were Napa Valley, but I was wrong; they're cheap particle board knock offs that I should've known from the photos (too brown). But the seller threw in his entire alphabetically organized collection of 200 tapes that he'd bought exclusively through the Columbia House mail order program back in the day for $12.99 CND each. His taste is heavier & cheesier than mine, with more Canadian bands and artists than I'd collect, but overall the selection could be way worse. So paying $50 CND for both fake wood holders and 200 tapes was a pretty good deal. The other pictures show the two authentic solid wood Napa Valley cassette racks that hold 100 cassettes each that I found in Toronto on Kijiji (local online classifieds). One was a totally FREE pick up. The other one I scored today for $15 CND. As a bonus it came with the original box which made we want to share images of it here. They are holding my cassette collection which consists of mostly compilations and various artist promotional samplers/collections from Canadian divisions of US record labels. Many say "For Promotional Use Only" and are so limited & obscure that even the mighty Discogs doesn't list them. And because these racks only stick out three inches from the wall, you can make use of the wasted space behind a door as long as there's a stopper to keep your prized cassette collection from getting crushed.
Awesome tapes! I got lucky and bought a bunch of the Napa Valley Racks years ago, that's all we had around here. I still run into them once in a while and didn't know they were worth more than the $3.99 Goodwill Value.
Cooler than the "Disco-Lite"? https://hackaday.com/2018/01/05/this-boombox-hack-is-lit/ In December of 1980, 20,000 copies of this bi-lingual (English & French) brochure were printed in Japan for the Canadian market to promote the PIONEER SK-71 & PIONEER SK-95: In September of 1981, 10,000 copies of this bi-lingual (English & French) brochure were printed in Japan for the Canadian market to promote the PIONEER SK-900: PIONEER SK-95: PIONEER SK-71: PIONEER SK-95 & PIONEER SK-71: PIONEER SK-21 & PIONEER SK-31: PIONEER H-R100 & PIONEER KP-500: In March of 1982, 10,000 copies of this bi-lingual (English & French) brochure were printed in Japan for the Canadian market to promote the PIONEER SK-900, PIONEER SK-750, PIONEER SK-350, PIONEER SK-300, PIONEER SK-650, PIONEER SK-400, PIONEER SK-200, PIONEER SK-210, PIONEER SK-100, PIONEER SK-95, PIONEER SK-71, PIONEER SK-31, PIONEER SK-21, PIONEER SE-L5, PIONEER SE-L4 & PIONEER SE-L3: Top marks to PIONEER for pandering to Canadians with the hockey theme. Amazingly, my Japanese wife swears she can tell the goalie is a Japanese youth, just from his eyes.
It makes you wonder what a modern day box full of lights would look like, the fact that you can change the colors is even more impressive.
Weltron, Clairtone, Braun....as a friend I'm going to say this as nicely as possible...you may have a problem! Of course everyone's been telling me that for years but don't listen to them! Seriously, you have a display worthy collection, I'd go to Toronto just to drink beers and look at them, do you have any "exhibits" planned? I've thought about displaying some of mine at the local artsy business's that display stuff but haven't thought out the logistics yet.....
