IMG_0763.JPG I recently acquired this beauty on the 'bay for $34 plus shipping. (dont be jealous) just got lucky, I suppose ;)
The speaker grills were a little rusty So I decided to paint them Charcoal Metallic grey. The original speakers sounded kinda blown, so I replaced them with the speakers out of a crappy Panasonic RX C39 that had some white speakers of the same size and Ohms. The tape deck didn't work, but I found the problem and it was a gear peg that had popped loose due to a crack in the plastic hole that it pokes into. I plastic welded the fractured plastic near the hole and got the peg for the gear to stay in place and it plays great now! The belt was still good, but dry, so I cleaned it with dish soap and hot water and that seemed to get it to work much better. IMG_0760.JPG IMG_0761.JPG IMG_0765.JPG IMG_0767.JPG

Very nice ! There is an AKA of this it slips my mind now.

The grill actually look better than stock in grey as the original is just a bit too much silver for me, this gives a nice contrast. Very nice indeed mate

Thanks! Agreed,T-ster! I think the darker grills make the chrome ring and the speakers stand out way better! I did the same with my Realistic SCR-8! Being that they all have boring silver grills.

    This is a goodlooking machine!
I'm surprised they didn't take advantage of the top of the case for some of the functions. It looks great though!

I mostly like boomboxes with flat tops so I can stack 'em! No more than 1 on top of another, or it can get dangerous of course.

Looks great, I agree the darker grills really set it off.

Is the AKA you're thinking about the GE 3-5286A?
