I am originally from Scotland and now settled in Vienna, Austria. I have built my Hi-Fi and collected for the last 9 years, overhauling Studer A807, Pioneer 4 Track RT 909, Revox B710, B77 High Speed 2 track and Normal speed (3 3/4 and 7.5ips) 4 track etc I recently bought a SONY DTC-1000ES HBB DAT Recorder and loving the dynamics it gives, I use it to master my 7.5ips reel tapes and it does an amazing job too.

I was just looking at your vid of your collection of blank tapes, very impressive.
You like me in the fact that you look like you use them rather than the people that just look at them and not open them.

 

Hi there and thanks for the lovely comment, Yes I use my tapes and stocked up due to prices getting really silly, I love the sound of my deck and metal tapes.... Collecting is pointless to me, I prefer to hear them sing ... ;-)

 

thank you, it has taken me almost a decade to get it to this point and a lot of patience in choosing the right components, even today I just discovered that Transcoding my FLAC library to WAV before my player plays it out gives me a nicer sound, learning every day...

 

of course the reason what brought me here is our beloved tape which sounds fantastic ...

Sound is the absolute must, couldn't agree more, I spend all my days making sure I get the best setup for sound quality and I finally cracked it with my digital setup.
