No batteries with me at the moment or I could test with the demo tape. On my way to another car boot starting at 9.30am so will have to hold my excitement until I get to my friends, but the excitement is what it's all about isn't it. BBQ for lunch. Having a nice day so far! :)
Bought a lovely minty Olympus rangefinder camera for £1 yesterday too, for those that like that sort of thing.

I look and look round bootsales but rarely find gems like you do! I did walk away from a JVC RC-717LB boombox I could have bought for £25, guy reckoned he was after £45 earlier in the day, don't know if I should be regretting that decision or not. Only saw one Discman as well, but it was a bit beaten-up and quite a new one, so left that too. Still, next weekend is another chance to find some good booty, so always optimistic!

Most of the car boots cancelled this morning and not many sellers at the ones that were on.

Some good news on the Reel to Reel player I bought yesterday in that it actually works! I wasn't really expecting it to. No doubt would Serious benefit from a good internal clean and service but at least I can have a play with the tapes it came with. The first one appears to be 80's music. Here's a short video of my test. Never had a Reel to Reel before so had to figures it out to get it going!

Blimey that seems to work real well to, what a great score. Same as you i have not really played with r2r much yet but I'm sure I will find one at a boot sale at some point.

You scored great there with the Akai.

The Reel to Reel does seem to work nicely. I tried to clean off the nicotine stains from the faceplate last night but neither soapy water or alcohol would do much. I'm going to try some acetone next which I'm sure will have a better effect but wont get a chance until Wednesday night.

Update: Acetone did nothing! Following some more reading I tried some toothpaste and it's working great, no need to even rub hard. I've tried a test spot applying with a cotton bud and wiping off with a dry tissue paper and it just wipes off! Will take a few hours to do the whole face but will be a great end result.

Nice reel to reel. I’ve had a few pass through my hands but not had a decent working one yet. I love the look of the high end ones and the metal reels. That Akai looks pretty cool

Yes the high end ones are so beautiful. I love the metal Pioneer like RT-909 and the TEAC X-2000R from one of my favorite films Pulp Fiction.

I almost bought a single-deck Panasonic boombox for £5 but decided not to, wish I had now! Only 'walkman' I found was some crappy fwd-only machine so I left that too, pretty slim pickings down here at the moment! I did buy a Casio pocket TV for £1 though, so not a total waste of time.

Found this boxed Sony WM-EX633 this morning. Worked out the box, didn't even need a new belt. Has a couple of scratches on the top near the open switch and where the battery pack screws in, but otherwise nice. Came with original gumstick, wall charger and headphones. 15274112133031935144001.jpg
