My Wm-ex511 won't fast forward or rewind at all.

I bought a non working sony Wm-ex511 walkman of the internet. The belt was terribly molten, so I replaced it for a brand new one. It now plays tapes flawlessly(in both directions), but when I try to Rewind or F.F it sounds like 2 grinding gears and stops afterwards. That only happens when there is a cassete inside, it rewinds normally without one. Is there anything that could be done? Thanks in advance.

I have found the service manual online. Has anyone had a similar issue?

Thanks for the reply . So, if I understand correctly, my belt is not tight enough to drive the mechanism when fastfowarding. The seller must have ripped me off. I've read elsewhere that talc powder can make belts turn with more torque, is that right?
