Anybody following world cup??? Germans were disappointing on first game, hopefully they will do better next game. Spain and Portugal are much better than other teams so far. England just started the game against Tunisia Belgium was great Russians are lucky being in a better group I want this world cup to go to a new country like Belgium, Mexico, Denmark, Sweden, Portugal..... tell us about your thoughts, prediction....
Watched the Sweden V Germany game yesterday, was impressed by Germany's 2nd goal scored in the last 5 minutes which they desperately needed, I think Germany will still need to up their game if they want to stay in the World Cup. England seem to be doing quite well so far.
Today Russia lost to Uruguay. I thought it was going to be a draw. Egypt is the worst team of world cup so far. I was expecting to see an easy win for Egypt against Saudis. anyway, Somebody in India committed suicide due to Argentina horrible performance against Croatia. https://sputniknews.com/asia/201806251065758230-messi-fan-commits-suicide/
Germany is out !!! unbelievable for defending champion to get eliminated so quickly. and what a great victory of South Korea. Cannot wait to watch the game between France and Argentina.
The team that surprised me most by their play, was Japan. They hardly had any "oh, I got tripped up, so now I'm going to roll around in agony until the ref calls a foul.... even though I'm not really hurt, hee hee". If they did get tripped up by the opposition, they quickly jumped back up and tried to get back into the play. Much respect to them. As for the England match the other day... 8 yellow cards between them and Columbia. Falcao was not amused. Even the England player was like "WTF ref...?" For those of you interested in stats.... "How many yellow cards did Colombia get? Colombia got six yellow cards against England in the last 16 match, the most any team has received in the tournament so far. The match equaled the most yellow cards for any match in the 2018 World Cup (8), but no other team had received more than five bookings before Colombia beat that number. Colombia did not even get close to breaking the record for most bookings as two teams have picked up nine yellow cards in a World Cup match before. Portugal got nine yellow cards in their infamous last 16 clash with Netherlands in 2006 which was dubbed the Battle of Nuremberg. The match also holds the record for most red cards in a World Cup match (4) as Costinha, Deco, Khalid Boulahrouz and Giovanni van Bronkhorst were dismissed. The 16 total yellow cards is also a joint record with Cameroon vs Germany in 2002. The 2010 World Cup final also saw nine yellow cards for Netherlands as they went on to lose to Spain in extra-time. Argentina holds the record for the most yellow cards in World Cup history with 88, while their former captain Javier Mascherano has the individual record with seven."
I thought Spain and Portugal was going to get further. But it's nice to see teams that were not expected to win still in the running.
I loved the way Japanese played. They didn't have a big star to expect a penalty kick from referee each game! To me all Japanese players are real stars. They always respected referee, Never used bad words, Never wasted time. In one word they played real football.
