    Hello everyone
I have an issue with my WM7, it keeps auto reversing all the time. I tried with belt on and without belt on, still the same problem.

If anyone have any ideas about this trouble please contact me.

    Thanks in advance

I have similar symptoms with my WM-F77. Would love to hear some ideas.

I have a wm-7 which did have this issue. Originally the remote would activate the auto reverse feature, using a voltage trigger inside the mini jack socket. When I attached the Walkman to a powered device like my portable speaker, the tiny voltage would set off the auto reverse. So I had to find headphones which wouldn’t interfere with the auto reverse trigger. Or perhaps something is triggering the logic controls. It is most likely voltage getting in where it shouldn’t. Finding those remotes is near impossible too, I’ve looked!

Edit - thinking about this, the auto reverse is more likely triggered by a drop in voltage supply. If you have a remote with no batteries, pressing or activating a trigger would involve dropping voltage slightly. If the remote was AA powered, which I’m not sure it is because I still never seen one, then perhaps adding voltage to the minijack would set the trigger off.

as speedy wrote allready, the autoreverse in a WM-7 gets triggered by a resistor in the remote. you can't use a WM-7 with active speakers nor is it suitable to connect it f.ex. to a mid/low-budget audio pre-amp because they use a resistor inside to trigger if there's a unit connected or not.

so question: are you using headphones ? if yes what kind of headphones are you using ?

    Hello everyone

I’m back after 2 years of absence, and because it’s quarantine time in France, I thought I will work on the WM-7 with the auto reverse issue.

After testing it again I realise I was in continuous auto reverse mode, so I switched to single play mode and as expected, it didn’t work it just stop after a second, same in reverse play.

Then I thought it might be the photo sensors. I checked for cracked solder points but all was good.
Then I start following the circuit board wiring and got to a 50v 1uf capacitor, hmmm, I replaced the cap, same problem, so I went further until I saw a broken or blown up diode!!

Because I have 4 WM-7 and one is a part donor, I replaced the diode, et voila!! It works.

My next task is to clean it and try to fix the wow and flutter, well it isn’t that good.

Here a couple of pics of the diode, the D301.
    Thanks and till next time.
