Nice find Reli, I was looking at those overseas, never seen a pair over here, here's a photo of the listing.

LXI was one of the house brands for Sears and some of it is pretty good. This unit has manufacturer code 564 which indicates Sanyo and it looks like it's in great condition. I was on the fence about the Sanyo Black Faced Version a couple years ago and never got it but these would make a great desktop or computer system if it has that early 80's quality.

    Wimpy looking speakers though. Sad.
IMO speakers need to be almost as wide as the main system. And preferably taller too.

They do look a little under-sized for the system but I'll give them some credit for the nice looking metal grill and it kind of looks like they have metal enclosures, far different then the mid-fi stuff you'd expect from Sears.

A bit scary to think that the girls in this photo will be in their mid forties now.

Great ad! It figures it was marketed kids, I'm hoping the build quality is a little better than entry level.

part of my collection includes boomboxes with detachable walkman units. Sharp QT19 is one of the most beautiful one in this category. I cannot believe that it was sold so cheap. anyway, I have this model in 2 different colors.

The Sharp QT19 is a beautiful little box with some big differences. There's four parts to it, two speakers that detach and the main body that holds the removable cassette player. The AM radio is built into the main body, the FM radio is built into the cassette player. The cassette player has a battery compartment and an AC jack. A small feat in engineering, mine is the same color as the other unit above, Boodokhan are yours different than red or black?

Want that box that everyone is going to gather around at the next boombox meet? This is the one to have and your pretty much guaranteed to be the only one with it. JCPenny is a department store very similar to Sears that also had a private labeled electronics department. While Sears seemed to have everything, JCP went more for middle-of-the-road normal items. This box is actually kind of interesting looking although there's not enough photos for the passing eyes, for the sharp eyes this box is different with it's added 8-track player! Not only that but it's mounted on the front panel instead of the usual side or top mount. I'm really tempted on this one but it looks pretty big and I'm running out of room but this would be a great conversation starter and give you a reason to pick up some of those dirt-cheap 8-tracks.

    JCPenny Model 681-3946 Boombox

The speakers have foam surrounds which will need re-foaming if they haven't been done already.

Re-foaming is pretty basic if you have good access to the speaker, I have some Polks that I had to re-glue the magnet due to the epoxy falling apart after years of use, following some great threads on the internet I put together a jig and re-glued them, now that was a little more intense but it was fun saving the speakers.

Do you have experience with these units Reli? They look pretty cool for a TV box, most of the stuff I see is quality-lite Emerson's, GPX's and other random crappy models.
