Does it worth its price of US$6000?

That depends on you and how much money you have. Yesterday I watched a review of a Koenigsegg sports car which they reckoned was worth $10000000. The owners had a couple, together with 'lesser' brands like Lamborghini ! I guess that sort of person wouldn't blink at the price of this box. If you are the sort of person who spends $6000 on a car, then probably not.

I hope the guy gets it, whom-ever kept that thing mint, and the box, deserves a medal. I'd love to hear the story of how it spent it's life.

Here's part of the original description:
"SINCE I WAS 15 YEARS OLD I SEARCHED FOR A CLAIRTONE 7980 LIKE NEW WITH THE ORIGINAL BOX AND AFTER 34 YEARS OF SEARCHING I FINALLY FOUND ONE AND I PROMISED MYSELF THAT I WOULD NEVER SELL IT BUT DUE TO HEALTH ISSUES MY OUTLOOK ON LIFE HAS CHANGED.I HAVE OWNED 58 CLAIRTONE 7980 BOOMBOX RADIOS BUT IN ALL MY YEARS OF COLLECTING,BUYING,SELLING AND TRADING I HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE THIS MINTY! IT WAS OWNED BY AN ELDERLY GENTLEMAN WHO PURCHASED IT NEW IN 1984 AND RARELY EVER USED IT. IT STAYED IN ONE SPOT IN HIS LIVING ROOM AND WAS ALWAYS COVERED OVER SO THE SUN AND DUST ECT... WOULD NOT HARM IT. THIS GENTLEMAN LOVED HIS MUSIC AND HE LOVED THIS RADIO. HE IS NOW IN A HOME DUE TO FAILING HEALTH."

$6000 for a car?! Not in my dad's book... He'd say it's "too much"!

But seriously, I doubt the seller will get even half that. It looks like one of those cheap, decked-out and over-priced models I'd see on the shelf at Sam's Club in the day. I mean: Who buys a dual-cassette portable where one of the cassettes loads & plays like it's in a car stereo? And a cheap car-stereo at that!

IDK. IMO a box like this has no history and no story to tell. Getting your battle scars along the way in life is what gives character and a story. You couldn't use it for fear of it getting scratched...shrug.

From a standpoint of functionality, the capacitors are still 30 some years old just the same as a used one and if not already done, the belts are on their way out. If not they've been replaced which means it's been serviced and therefore no longer new.

So, it's a mint used C100. It might get 2,500 but that would be the cap IMO
