I would love to get the 100 fixed. I would like to try and see if Kaosun could do it for me but I just do not have the funds. I've also got the Sony d-c2 a d tc-d3(d3) I so want to get repaired but cannot. The prices on you know where for the classics are just ridiculous. Have been in touch with Sergiou(magnetic blood) regarding those two but have had to tell him why cannot send my units to him. Once you have re-capped those units I'm sure they will sound fabulous. I just wish now that I had tried some of the other makes of discmans etc years ago.

I had bought an original service manual (printed) while trying to figure out what's wrong with my Sony D-T100. Always suspected the servo chip ( IC 601 CXD1125Q ), with your input am almost certain. Got out of the drawer a box where the D-T100 resides dismantled , time for microsurgery !
It was always non working so I'm eager to hear how it sounds .... if succeed.
Have also the Technics SL-XP5 and Sony D7 (the D-50 MkII in certain markets) and they are indeed great performers.

Thank you for correcting me @Machaneus: D-7 is a better name for MkII, it is nothing like the infamous "the original" D-5. I had quite a few of MkII/D-7: very temperamental little babies they are and needed re-calibration every other year o_O But in terms of sound quality they were my absolute favorite Discmans! SL-XP5 sounded as good, but you know, the babies which give you the most troubles you love the most :)
And... Good Luck!!! Now that my original collection is lost I will be hunting for the units I missed on my First Try: DCP-100 is my first baby-step towards recovery from disaster. And Sony D-90 shall always remain my little specialty (already bought one!;)) After fixing a few dozen of them I know D-90 inside-out and when everything else fails I buy one to keep my "idle hands" busy :)

My intention was not to correct you my friend :bestfriends:(nothing to correct ) just wanted to clarify the sometimes Sony confusing typology as the Sony D-T100 is also Sony D-T10, depending on the sales area , and so on.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your collection I wish and am certain that gradually you'll end up with a better one !:)
I like the idea of a picture of a small army of D-90's in the "Post your multiple ones" thread in the future.:)

Keep searching those resale shops, Derek... It's how I've found some of the greatest finds in my collection! It's also how I found what at first I thought was a marvelous portable DVD-player:
The form factor was that of a portable CD-player... but the sad fact was it only displayed video in the wide-screen format, and there was no way to change it.:veryangry:
Suddenly, I'm glad I kept the Panasonic that replaced my Citizen... and gave away the one with 40-second anti-shock I bought just a year after buying that one, thinking a longer anti-shock would be a good thing to have!:omg:
The square-shaped model from The Ministry of Sound resembles the first CD-R/RW compatible player I ever saw... and saw going for a fortune at Circuit City in the day.:ohno2:
You can count me as one...!:nwink:

Damn...! I knew my Citizen CBM-777 was bigger than the latter model Panasonics I replaced it with, but I never realized how big until seeing it next to all of yours, Jorge!:noway:

Hi Nickelinidmer. Have searched so many charity shops over here with no luck. They are so scarce these days. Christmas I had a nice surprise. My daughter found me a Sports Walkman which still works fine except the earphone socket needs re-soldering. Use to have a Sony WM-75 sports back in85 but someone stole it at work. Can you still find these little gems over in Chicagoland? I hate mp3 . I'M a tape, mini-disc and CD fanatic. Love the sound.

Can't really say, as I don't frequent the shops and sales like I once did. When there was only indie and charity shops in the area, such finds were common... but now that Goodwill and Salvation Army has centers locally, it's not so easy. I try getting there the day new items are set out, but if I'm not there soon enough, all the worthwhile stuff is gone and I'm stuck looking at shelves filled with old LCD computer monitors. And don't get me started about how the trend of older formats has gotten the young and the greedy to clog eBay with buying/selling even the worst examples at exorbitant prices.:veryangry:

I think charity shops, boot sales have become a lot wiser to just how much these jems can fetch these days which makes it a lot harder now to find these little jems. I' e e en left them my number to contact me should a thing be brought in but no go so far. The prices on you know where are simply ridiculous considering how old some of these players are now. I just enjoy my small collection that I have.

all the sony's, design it's the dj50, sound it's the d515, the d311 is the same. but 515 had better design. the d777 is the best portable sony.

You have some lovely units there. Have always loved the old square units. Those Philip's units look very nice. Are they all metal units. I only have 1 Philip's discman which is only plastic and only a basic model. Have never heard the 777 but everyone says it's a very nice unit.

the 777 has "tube" sound, is great with rock music. sound quality isn't as good as a 311 or 515, let alone the philips. the philips is total next level compare to the sony's. it seems the denon dcp 150 the best of them all, never heard that one, would love to

I too have never listened to the demon but have heard so many people rave a out it. Am currently listening to my d-z555 at the moment. Always loved its warm sound. I also love the d-350 as well. A very powerful well detailed sound.
