folks, to repair a boombox or walkman you allways need good equipment. cycling past our local rubbish-place i allways spec in the box with electronics - yesterday i spected this nice vintage dual beam oscilloscope and this morning i rushed by car to go there to pick it up (...had to drop some bucks in the coffee-bank).

it's a 1966 Tektronix dual beam oscilloscope, besides some dents in the housing (somebody threw a waffle-maker and some old toaster on it) it appears in very, ery good conditon. have to try it later, will compare results with my fluke. if it works, besides beeing a wonderfull eye-catcher, it will be a great tool for further works ;-)

...and i will make some transparent lids for it :)

Wow is that beautiful! That's a mega-score in my book, especially working but it looks like it's never been touched. Tektronics are built like tank and the inside is super nice but it looks like it's never been touched. Most of the manuals are on line if you need one.

    thanks folks !

i don't need it, but i'm going to find an original manual - just to have it complete. even making some testings yesterday Tektronix vs. Fluke 200MHz i can asure now this unit is a 100% working. all tubes are original silvana (!).
now it just needs the bnc-sockets cleaned, some ustanol in a few pots and it'll be perfect. definitively a keeper for a while ;-)

Did you say "Tektronics"? They were used to create the radar-image screen in the original Battlestar Galactica! :delighted::

I didn't know that, I was watching some documentary on YouTube, I think Irwin Allen, and they talked about the old IBM consoles they used for the impressive blinking light displays, I'm also noticing how the early James Bond used a lot of R2R players to make hidden electronics look cool. Most people weren't exposed to these high-end electronics so it all looked new and exciting.

    Great find.

Tektronix invented the triggered oscilloscope (so you can get a static waveform) and are still around today, making test equipment that is as professional and expensive in real terms as that one was back in the day.
