    I wonder if that has a karaoke connection, the mid-80's japanese karaoke machines had 8-track that carried the vocal-less songs and then you put in a cassette tape to tape your singing, at least that's how I think they work. The quality of the front panel is pretty low compared with the AKAI's I have or seen.

    Both. I have always thought these were aimed at the college student in digs. When my sister started college away from home back in 1977 my parents bought her a Sanyo Black and White TV (which I recall cost about £70 back then; over £400 in 2018 money) and a GEC Radio. A unit like this would have covered both those functions along with tape.

    I want 0ne of those bad ianthepostie, I'm surprised I haven't found one yet, I feel like they all got tossed in the 90's as being too big, too ugly and too old. It would look perfect next to my VZ-2000.

    I would guess that the TV only being Black & White limited their appeal after a few years. Whether you are watching Football (either kind) Snooker, Nature programmes, or using the TV with your newly bought Spectrum, Commodore 64, or VCR, Colour is much more desirable. By the end of the 80s colour sets were down to about £150 new, the same price as a Spectrum computer, and much less than something like an Amiga computer. In the UK even a £150 TV would have had an external video input giving a much clearer picture with a Computer or Games Console than an older set like the Panasonic.

    Yea, black and white TVs were so 60's even though you'd still see them into the early 80's. Even though the box is pretty cool, your friends would have made fun of it.

    Never seen one like this before, a Normende branded version of the Sanyo mini boombox MS200F. Looks in great condition, just a shame there's no sound output. I'd take a guess the volume/balance control switch has died. They are impossible to fix unless you have a replacement part!

    Daniel Technology RMP-9 Micro Cassette Player. A micro cassette player for investigators, most likely similar to the one I posted awhile back. These were meant to read micro cassette recordings as accurately as possible so theoretically they would be one of the best players available. Mine is direct drive with a military grade rotation meter on the hubs to ensure no wow or flutter, this doesn't look as "high tech" as mine but there's not a lot of MC decks out there. Unfortunately, these do not record. Mine was over $6000 USD when new, I don't know how much this one is but the website still lists other neat modified cassette products.

    The cool stuff is getting harder to find without silly pricing but I saw this one while looking for some camera equipment. I haven't touched one of these but I've owned the older Job Rocker for a few years and use it all of the time. Mine has a huge rechargeable battery that lasts for hours and it gets very loud, it also weighs the same so it's most likely very similar. Forget about the odd-ball ION Products, the mono-speaker line is great for loud portable music, and this one has a microphone. My one complaint is my radio tuner stinks so I use my phone's radio over Bluetooth.

    I wouldn't expect great sound quality but to me it looks as if it has come straight from the set of Space 1999.

    The Cubic Compo name is very strange and may explain why we didn't see much of this in the UK. Compo was a famously scruffy lead character in Sitcom Last of the Summer Wine which ran from 1973 to 2010 so was well established before this came out.

    Thanks for the heads up Mister X. I have just bought the microphone to go with The Sony M-1PD which I have .However ,the postage was, in my opinion ,expensive so I have raised this with the Seller for once as it represents a third of the actual cost of the microphone . Thanks again though

    The postage does seem excessive when you consider that the completed Philips system I just posted about is £6.50. They probably haven't moved on from the days when Ebay didn't charge commission on postage and sellers in Hong Kong would do listings like "Laptop £1, Postage £700". I just received a TV remote and it was £3.95 including postage, delivered by Royal Mail. I am not sure how they made a profit on that, although the seller has a Royal Mail business account like a friend had when he was selling loads of stuff on Amazon. £5 would have been a reasonable price to charge by a private seller.
