MDR-E741 SONY for WALKMAN: One of the longest production series. There are several versions.
I beleave the best is 747 md version after that is thise with black plastic mesh and then silver metal mesh versions.

 

I have a whole bag of these in-ear ones going back forever! I have never been able to use them as they would never fit in my ears and always fell out, guess I'm a strange shape!
For that reason I never used them and never realised some produced a good sound. I will have to dig out and see what models I have...will update at some point

 

I would like to find some of these in the wild too! All the car boot sales I go to (and I go to a lot!), I never find any vintage Sony headphones.

I decided to change my E484 hollow tube with tube from E837. The result is satisfying.

 

I want black case for E484 or E575. Anyone?

 

Hi, I am interested in what you mean but I don't really get what you say. You mean to change your bass tube for your E484?
As for myself, I need two 484 drivers!

 

LC-OFC wire is in rubber hollow tube! This tube is 30 years old and cant last for ever!

 

I get it now, you mean the cable. So you only replace the rubber cover? That's wise.

 

Yes, but is not so easy. I takes some time and smart technique to do.

 

I can imagine. The 484 has a little bit of a stiffer cable cover. Although my E262's cable is still smooth, after what, 35 years? Ridiculous - in a satisfying way.

 

Some lucky man spend fortune to buy this legend MDR-E282.
At some point I rejected to bid! This is 5X HD540 Gold Sennheiser's.

The E282 is a bliss. From the moment I heard it I am stuck and I want one. Although €1500 is crazy shit for real.

I admit is a real beauty and delight.
This is made in 1988 when I was born.
I think the 80's is the best like music and tech.

MDR-E242 is walkman accessory during 80's top models. The sound quality is very high!
This is Turbo design after all, if you push your finger in stem opening the bass is greatly reduced
The only difference from MDR-E262 is the cable is not single strand and has equalizer beneath the mesh.

So here is an Aiwa HP-X10 from 1984 when I was born
Maybe the best sounding portable device I have ever owned. Sheer luck and the greatest desire resulted this fantastic set in my possession.
