    Hello,
I have recently acquired a Denon dr-m10hx, second hand.
When I first powered it on, it started making a continuous humming noise.
I put on a tape, pressed play and it worked just fine.
I stopped the tape, the humming continued.
So I opened the case and saw that humming was coming from the belt, which is running endlessly. See 2nd picture.

Is this normal ? I doubt it but I wanted to make sure before taking it apart and trying to see what it the problem.

    Thanks in advance !

That may be normal, I was looking at the service manual on HiFi Engine and didn't see any little micro switches that might be sticking. The humming may indicate that the motor needs some lube or a good cleaning.

Thanks, but I don’t understand why the belt is turning only when I press the power button.
So when I have power on the deck, without doing anything else, the belt keeps turning.
If you think this is normal and then I will disassemble and lubricate the mechanism.
    Thanks for you help !

While I don't know about your particular deck, there a many decks with always on capstan motors (i.e. the one with the big belt). So I think it's probably fine.

I recently got a denon dr-m30hx, I think that the hum is pretty normal in your machine.
The motor always running is very normal, it happens as well on my machine.
The main issue I'm suffering from is terrible wow and flutter linked with the left facing pinch roller.
