Difficult times.

I think I have it hardest of all...

Before moving to Iowa, I put all my recording & equipment into a climate-controlled storage locker. It being a 3+hours drive away, and not having a personal vehicle at my disposal (Don't ask!) I'm forced to make do with streaming YouTube videos [while at the desk] through either a Sanyo Soundbase that's on a shelf (daytime) or my Blue Lola headphones (nighttime) or my JLabs Rewind Bluetooth headset with my Samsung J7 phone, sometimes.

But it's not all bad... I've been going through different genres of stuff that's been produced in the last few years, including 80s-style remixes of contemporary pop, vintage Italo-Disco and soundtracks to a few musicals from the last decade. I've even heard a few Synth-Wave originals that sound on-par with vintage stuff. And I have to tell you: It's amazing what a change in accompaniment can do for the vibe of a song!

 

Hi Nickelindimer. That's tough not having all your equipment with you but whatever you do is keep safe. I too find myself listening to all different stuff at the moment. Some I have not listened to for some time. Hope you manage to get to your equipment at some time but as iv'e already said stay safe .

 

Actually, the worst of it is I just received a Sony WM-FS555 in good condition, for a good price, and I have no way of testing it's tape operations.

@nickelindimer Interesting songs. And Plastic Love is indeed an interesting title and that cover isn't bad at all. I've heard it before. If you like that title you should check out some Kayokyoku playlists on youtube. Japanese 70s and 80s city pop really had an interesting sound and funky basslines.

 

I've heard a few other of Mariya's releases, and I can't get over how "Plastic Love" and "September" sound like soundtracks to anime of that era.

 

I finally used a Walkman for the first time since the lockdown started.
I went for a lunchtime walk by the river yesterday and decided to take a Walkman, took a DC2 and my latest recording of Egyptian Lover / Man Parrish on TDK MA-XG.
Normally I have been walking and listening to the birds sing.
Today I will swap to another Walkman to take on my walk.

 

Hi Chris. Good to hear it. Now try listening to o e through headphones at home. Pure bliss. Am currently listening to the g-750 mini disc at home. Going through some discs I recorded several years ago. Am not happy with the tapes I recorded the other day. Am going to try re ording same through the mzr-55 mini disc player. It has a separate line out. Take care Chris.

 

Why bother with headphones at home when I have a nicer system, besides my headphone amp is on my desk at work. I keep my headphone amp on my desk at work, since that is the only other place I use headphones other than when i am out and about.

 

I know. Am just trying to see if you would give it a go. No harm in trying.

 

Since I live alone, I have no one to disturb so headphones not necessary. I know how good my headphones are since I have a quiet office at work and I use the headphones all day long.

Have tried that Chris. When I show him my walkmans he just laughs. Won't even listen. That's the younger generation for you. They haven't got a clue. Would rather listen to those crappy phones.

 

Give him a games console and send him into a different room, that is what I would do.

 

That's all they all do now. They all communicate over the internet now. They hardly go outside any more even before all this started. Progress they call it.

 

Well I guess one good thing that comes out of this lockdown is, you don’t have to force him to stay in.
