From 1980, the top unit is a Fisher Stereo Microcassette Deck. We've seen the Sanyo, which is probably the exact same unit but nobody has posted a Fisher Unit yet that I can remember. The full issue is here....They've changed their name to worldradiohistory....What a great time in audio history, I never knew how big those Sony's were, and check out the Kenwood Computer Amp. https://worldradiohistory.com/Archive-All-Audio/Archive-High-Fidelity/80s/High-Fidelity-1980-04.pdf
I've posted these before but thought they might get some interest in this thread, the Olympus SR11 had a speaker option, the Olympus SP5. These little guys are very similar to Radio Shack Minimus Speakers but they are self powered using a 6 volt wall wart or 4 c-cell batteries for a speaker rating of 5 watts.
Still you can fully enjoy it , though the remote is appearing from time to time at a fair price , not too expensive not cheap either.
Now I'm in a quandary, getting on this forum has not helped my de-collecting at all, although the Sony M1-PD has gone and a good many tapes, I've decided not to entirely give up on Micro's. The question is this, the Sony M-50 isn't able to record (even though it has the FM radio insert) so I'd need to hang onto the Sony TC-MR2 The TC-MR2 is good but on it's own I'm limited to static enjoyment, even though it can run on batteries it's not exactly pocketable. The Aiwa HS-M2 is my favourite, I love the sliding casing, it runs on only one AA but recording is not the greatest and I can't find the original folding headphones with the volume control, so it's either medium volume or really LOUD. The NT-1, it makes a really good recording, I have all the bits including the stereo mic, plug in mains adapter and a handful of tapes and then there's that really useful and unique seamless auto reverse. The only downside is that the original "soft feel" coating has mostly worn off the case, otherwise it still works perfectly but for how long and will it be fixable?
Nice find Silver post photos of the belt change (and size) when you get to it, I've got one that's been sitting for a while that needs a little love.
Hi, does any knows about what kind of belts does the Sony M-1PD needs ? I found one, but has to be fixed... Thx
You might want to PM quaz30 gbct, he recently repaired one. I don't have that model, they seem to be much more rare around here.
Thx mister X ! @quaz30, @stuck-in-time you seem to now quite well the Sony M-1PD. I just recieved mine yesterday. It is like new, in its box. And works ! Treble are itchy, bass are sometimes too strong, and the tap’s speed seems to make some small ups and downs. Do you now if there is anything to do ? And I also transplanted some metal tape (from a Fuji type IV/60 min) in a microcassette, but when I press play, there is only one wheel of the cassette rolling, then it stops, and the tape gets stuck in the reading mecanism. Is thIs kind of tape not thin enough for a microcassette ? Thx Again
Something quirky from Yahoo Auctions in Japan: a knock-off of the Olympus SR11. Yes, a knock-off. Not a rebrand, not using the same parts - this is a bonafide clone straight from the 1980's. Of a failed microcassette recorder. I have so many questions. How do I know it's not a rebranded Olympus? Even at first glance I can tell the mechanism is very different and upon close inspection, nothing between the two devices matches up.
Also, note how it doesn't say it's a stereo recorder. It does have a normal/metal tape switch, but I am almost sure this device is mono. But I will (hopefully) buy it and give further information once it arrives.
