    Hi Walkman Collectors,

While cruising Yahoo Auctions Japan I ran across this WM-EX77 with all the accessories for $30. I selected 2 day DHL shipping so it ended up being about $50.

This thing is beautiful! It's the EX I've always wanted! There's hardly a scratch on it since it's been in the sleeve all of it's life. There's absolutely NO signs of wear, battery corrosion, or other cosmetic issues whatsoever. In fact, even the accessories (except for the bag) show little to no signs of wear.

This one's going in my growing collection!

On the negative side, the pinch rollers look bad, and the belt needs to be replaced. I got a new belt on order from Mihokm. Pinch rollers will be ordered soon.

I'm so excited to have found this model at such a great price in such good shape!

Let me know if you have any experience with this model or comments!

A nice find for a sensible price. Did you use some kind of bidding / shipping service like Buyee?
I have often browsed Yahoo auctions using that but have yet to make a bid or purchase, not knowing how much the postage and other fees would be.

Yes, I did use Buyee to do the transaction. You never really know what the postage fees are until the item has made it to the Buyee warehouse. It all depends on the size and weight of the item, and what packaging the seller used.

Yahoo Auctions Japan is a great source to find Walkmans, and Buyee is really pretty good. I saw an EX77 on eBay, similar thing, unit, remote, and battery holder, but it was $165, and the unit was in poor condition. So, you can definitely find a better price on Yahoo Auctions than eBay for sure (even with international shipping considered).

Honestly, don't worry about shipping, there are many shipping options to choose from starting at just a couple of dollars.

Thanks for the comprehensive replay. I suppose a Walkman is small and light enough to be reasonable postage. I saw a thread on a HiFi forum where someone was excited about a "bargain" record deck they had bought on Buyee, but ended up telling them to dispose of it and loosing the purchase price, when they discovered shipping would be three times what they had paid for the deck.

I think it was Techmoan who put me on to Buyee. He recently got carried away with MiniDisc players at a bargain purchase price from Japan.

    and a warning about postage

Yeah, Buyee’s shipping rates will go through the roof if the item is big or heavy. I got burned one time on a full sized turntable.

Techmoan currently uses Jauce. It’s similar to Buyee but he explained in one video the differences and why he prefers it.

Jauce, Buyee, Sendico, it’s all about the same. I think Buyee is probably the most popular.
